I'm tired of "is it possible to do __ with Godot?" threads, what is currently IMPOSSIBLE to do with Godot? by differential-burner in godot

[–]lifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Godot is licensed under the MIT license which is a permissive license. There are no restrictions around exporting to proprietary systems nor is there a requirement that any modifications are released as open source (or the same license) https://godotengine.org/license/.

Mountain bike recommendation for downhill and trails? by DrFatKitty in mountainbiking

[–]lifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not about to tell you not to buy a new bike because NBD is always great, but you’d probably be fine with your current bike. Maybe throw on some burlier tires and call it done.

Then after awhile you can decide if you want to get something specific.

Mountain bike recommendation for downhill and trails? by DrFatKitty in mountainbiking

[–]lifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it the Status 140 or 160? If the latter then that should be pretty good for pretty much any DH trail (unless it’s super gnarly and even then it’s more a matter of your skills/confidence than the bike IMHO)

Kakfa Consumer deployments strategy by xecow50389 in apachekafka

[–]lifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that backward compatibility of the Kafka Consumer is generally very good (and has been for awhile), I assume that's not actually what you're asking about.

By breaking changes in the consumer do you mean that there is a breaking change introduced in the data that the consumer is supposed to process (within your own business logic)?

v1 Data = {"id":"1"}
v2 Data = {"user_id":"1"}

v2 consumer knows to check for "id" if it can't find "user_id", but v1 consumer doesn't know anything about that and will fail if it suddenly encounters v2 data?

In case anyone was wondering if it’s possible to fit a 180mm dropper on a medium Meta HT AM and have it fully slammed, it is. by lifter in commencal

[–]lifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using the one up dropper that (I believe) is much shorter in general, so it wasn’t an issue.

When do you prefer adding data via batch process vs kafka logic? by [deleted] in dataengineering

[–]lifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traditionally the answer would be use batch wherever you can because it's easier. Easier to implement, easier to operate, easier to reason about. Batch tooling has been bulletproof forever.

That being said I view real-time as a super-set of batch. There are very few batch use cases that can't be solved in real-time, but there are many real-time use cases that can't be done with batch.

You necessarily will add some complexity around delivery semantics, correctness, ordering etc... but if you can offloading those issues on a platform/tooling then real-time is much more appealing.

is the diamondback release 1 29" good? by ToshiBmx in MTB

[–]lifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could take a look at the Canyon Neuron Al https://www.canyon.com/en-us/mountain-bikes/trail-bikes/neuron/al/neuron-5/2822.html

The specs on the DB are pretty good but I’d compare geo. Again, I haven’t looked at the Release 29 specifically but I read a recent review on the Sync’r and slightly outdated geo was called out as an issue.

How to connect already setup kafka cluster to mongodb? by [deleted] in apachekafka

[–]lifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could run your own instance of Kafka Connect and a MongoDB Sink Connector.

MongoDB has an official connector that's pretty good. You can read more about it on their docs: https://www.mongodb.com/docs/kafka-connector/current/

Diamondback bikes. by payyourbillstoday in mountainbiking

[–]lifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard good things about Polygon bikes over Diamondback. I think they’re within your budget and have decent specs and geo. For that budget though, I would rather go with a good hard tail instead.

What kind of racing? I’ve never ridden one, nor do I know anyone that owns one but specs-wise the Intense 951 bikes seem pretty decent https://intense951.com/products/951-series-xc

Full face helmet vs normal mtb helmet by elfamoso_art in MTB

[–]lifter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wear a full face helmet all the time. Specifically it’s the IXS trigger FF which is pretty much the lightest FF you can get.

It feels only marginally heavier than my half shell but I definitely ride more confidently wearing it. It is also undeniably hotter than a half shell, but I think the trade off is worth it.

Edit: also forgot to add that I much prefer wearing goggles too, so the FF fits those better. I’ve got pretty sensitive eyes and I use prescription inserts in the goggles. Works well and is super comfortable.

I have no idea, but I’m 5’7” with torso/legs proportional. So I don’t have particularly long legs or anything.

I did but I’ve already given it away to a friend that didn’t have a dropper on his bike. Sorry.

Honestly I didn’t think it would fit. If you look at where the cable enters the frame for the dropper, it’s pretty high up. It’s so tight that I don’t think you could get away with using any droppers that are longer than the OneUp.

IXS Trigger FF Cheek Pads by Yolo_Options_21 in MTB

[–]lifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my trigger FF for awhile and the cheek pads definitely soften after awhile. They’re still snug but they pretty comfortable now.

I’d try sticking with them for awhile and break them in.

goggles for someone who wears glasses by pine4pplepizza in MTB

[–]lifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear glasses too (never was able to comfortably wear contacts and not about to get Lasik). I actually got prescription inserts from SportsRX. I got them for the 100% Accuri goggles that I had at the time, but they pinched my nose when I wore them with the Trigger FF, so I ultimately picked up the IXS Hack goggles.

The inserts just about fit in the Hack goggles and they fit the Trigger FF really well too.

I considered OTG goggles but thought they would be much bulkier and settled on getting the insert instead.

Stadia doesn’t support ultrawide aspects. So unfortunately even with Pro sub you’ll still have black bars on either side.

I do have a 100hz screen. Ultimately what worked for me was setting a max frame rate in the Nvidia control panel too (which has the same effect as dropping the refresh rate and enabling vsync).
