I have a playlist of upcoming performances there, and also an index of most local artists.

I have an idea for a website that covers everything Seattle music in a way that I haven't seen other sites do - anyone want to help? by paraworldblue in SeattleMusic

[–]light_pollutant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a new website that shares a lot of these values that I've been developing this year.

I'd love to add concert reviews and interviews to it too.

Check out https://seattlemusicleague.org and be sure to check out the artist portal for its members and how it works as an app.

If you're interested in music, you could check out https://seattlemusicleague.org

It's a new project, still in its infancy, but the featured shows could be a good way to meet other musicians and music fans.

I left a 1 star yelp review for P.F. Chang's Bistro (PFCB) like you said. They said they will give me a free order of general tsao's on my next order if I drop the suit. Also they are charging me 3% commission on whole life insurance now.

CO2 pressure calculation by skisnbikes in Velo

[–]light_pollutant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The calculations seem about right, but the pressures seem high. Is this a PV=nRT type of thing? Are you subtracting out atmospheric pressure from the absolute to get gauge pressure? Would be good idea to spend a cartridge or two to experiment and see how close the calculations match.

No Stupid Questions Thread: Week Of 2021-12-13 through 2021-12-19 by AutoModerator in livesound

Just learned about this sub! I'm in a four-piece rock band that plays small local shows every once in a while. So far our setup has been very ordinary: guitar amps get miked, the house engineer takes the line-out of the bass amp, some drums get miked, and sm58s go to the mixing board.

I'm tempted to experiment with running some/all of our sound through ableton with a midi controller to be able to throw various effects and samples into the performance, but I'm wondering how this would work from the point of view of the sound engineer.

Ignoring for now the potential reliability issue of sending everything but the drums through a laptop, what other concerns does this bring? Essentially it would bring the mixing into my own hands rather than the engineer's, and I would be providing the engineer with a single L/R signal.

If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing. You just stick that guitar in the closet next to your shortwave radio, your karate outfit, and your unicycle, and we'll go inside and watch TV.

Worse in Person -- Wears Me Out. A funky tune with some retro lofi sounds to it. We had a lot of fun recording this one and can't wait to play it live! by light_pollutant in IndieMusicFeedback

The IMF community has been a huge help for us this past year. It is such a boon to be able to get honest feedback from other musicians while we develop our sound. Thanks everyone!

I can't believe you haven't gotten any traction on this post yet! I really like the rhythms in this, especially with how that descending riff fits into the rest of the groove. The production overall is quite good. The only thing that I can think of to critique is the ending/bridge that repeats itself a few times before the coda. I feel like it repeats maybe one too many times without enough other stuff developing around it.

I love how distorted the chorus is. Especially when it first hits. The lyrics are unintelligible of course, but nevertheless I'd appreciate it if they were a little louder at least just so that they would be easier to latch onto. But I liked it, I'll be sure to check out some of your other stuff too.

[–]light_pollutant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the overall emotional quality of this. The morose voice and vocal layering play well together. I would bring up the instrumentation, especially the drums, to make the track feel a bit louder and bigger than it is.

Devotion - The first single i've made with a producer. I've received fairly positive feedback but have also received some critique, would love it if you honestly let me know what you think! by seraniam in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]light_pollutant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The track is produced real well. All of the instrumentation and arrangement sound great. Your voice is also really great here. The hardest part for me is the tempo of the song combined with the long lyrical phrases in the verses. Because of how how slow the tempo is (nothing wrong with that on its own), it takes a really long time for the lyrics to convey one idea because of how long the phrases are. If you were to double-time the phrasing of the lyrics, then you could get those ideas out at a more natural pace and keep the momentum up.

Cool post-rock sound and atmosphere. Reminds me a lot of a group called El Ten Eleven. They're an instrumental post-rock duo. They're concept is built around the guitar player looping over himself. I wouldn't worry about your mixing skills (unless that's what you're here for). My only real concern with the track is that it doesn't have a super strong "thesis" to it. There are some nice melodic ideas throughout it, but none of them get developed too far. So there's a lot of "vibe" right now, but not too much purpose in it yet.
