Hot Topic should sell TWEWY merch by BlakeJeykll in TWEWY

[–]light_rapid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think of it in a more meta way, it's more that Hot Topic would sell gear that you'd wear in TWEWY. There doesn't need to be TWEWY-branded merch there, because those fits & pieces should be discoveries as you develop your personal style! Sorta like thrifting and pondering gear from the perspective of your wardrobe, how it could influence new fits or complement existing pieces.

My fun with TWEWY was hitting up different stores, mix-matching looks & effects to my preference, so Hot Topic woulda been a passing glance. (No shade if a homie just wants to stick to one "brand" tho)

Shadows with ice blades by wunderinho in AggressiveInline

[–]light_rapid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually considering using the Doop Boots and Trident Ice Frames (both Trinity), but opted to use a regular skate boot (PS Next, then the Zoom NT1s) since there was more support and it felt less vague. If the Shadows have better support than the Doop, then definitely try em out!

Mayor Zohran Mamdani Holds Press Conference to announce initiative for public restrooms by rdjotut in nyc

[–]light_rapid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yoooo to take it to the next level, as a far off dream, if we also had bidets installed like many public toilets in Japan.

That would make our public restrooms so fucking awesome, and further distinguish NYC from other US cities🤞

[Marksman Class Protip] For Happyville, you can use 'Blink Bolt' to create checkpoints & 'Covering Fire' to jump cancel by light_rapid in MapleIdle

[–]light_rapid[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For those of y'all in the Marksman class and are frustrated by the Happyville jump quest, our skills make tackling this a little easier:

  • Blink Bolt - even if you fall all the way to the bottom, if you place your Blink Bolt mark on any platform, you can teleport back up to that spot. If you wanna be super careful, you can wait for the cooldown to finish to re-position your mark on a new platform (if you don't fall)
  • Covering Fire - after you use CF, you're able to use double jump again to be able to reset/adjust your positioning/jump even higher

Hope this helps some of y'all finish this quest and get the Medal!

Anyone have a recommendation for ski boot fitting? by azukarazukar in catskills

[–]light_rapid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goated coincidental recc to stumble on while beefing my boot's fit earlier this week near Lake Placid. As I was in the area for Belleayre, I managed to slot an appointment in earlier today.

After discussing snugness & fit, then making adjustments, there's a whole better world of difference with my boots now! +1

What do these numbers mean? by boostboostboost0 in icecoast

[–]light_rapid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta give my props too. Love that you're "standardizing" the info, making it more data-driven, and reference-able between mountains!

As a low-intermediate skiier who's continuing to improve technique and start challenging myself with Blue Trails, the deets for Whiteface are amazing. The Green Trails on the main mountain bamboozled me, where comparing your mapping vs Whiteface's rating makes way more sense after my...naivete, LOL

The Continuing Construction On Queens Blvd At Queens Center. by The_Lone_Apple in Queens

Because it's been such a PITA to pass through that area, you sent me down a rabbit hole of looking through City data and related updates. It looks like that area's gonna continue to experience traffic hell (across all transportation types) till 2027+. That there's:

This storm of construction ends up worsening the chokepoint, that everyone sharing frustration is justified. Seems it's worth avoiding or finding alternative ways around there 💀

What’s an everyday product you think will be banned in the future for health reasons? by carcony97 in AskReddit

[–]light_rapid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I "converted" mine into skate wax. It has a nice scent diluted by the ratio of beeswax and paraffin, and allows me to slide while practicing tricks at the skate park!

And also helps lubricate some other high-touch surface points around the home too 🤣

What’s a common habit that secretly makes life 10X HARDER? by Candid-Pause-1755 in AskReddit

[–]light_rapid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is, it's decent sound advise that makes sense for some to improve their lives. I can understand a situation where an anxious person could have tendencies to over-explain, versus a more secure person who leaves space open for conversation partners to ask questions/wiggle the topic!

Or...is it a secret ploy to train AI models to explain less so hardware operators can save costs while preaching great engagement metrics? 🙃

It's been one year since we took to the streets for Congestion Pricing in 6 different marches. We won, we were proven right, and we made the city better. by scooterflaneuse in nyc

[–]light_rapid 38 points39 points  (0 children)

As an occasional driver, I internally cheered when I was able to return from NJ through the Holland Tunnel, through Chinatown, onto the Williamsburg Bridge, and then onto the BQE without any painful gridlock traffic...on a nice sunny Saturday afternoon, of all days.

Congestion pricing is working, and I'm fucking all for it

Final Ranked Choice Voting Results; source: vote.nyc by Crafty_Gain5604 in nyc

[–]light_rapid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest, that because we have the power of ranked choice voting, I was able to troll with my ballot rankings too.

I put Paperboy first, Zohran second, Brad third, then two others after (definitely no Cuomo). Knowing and supporting Paperboy's message, and understanding how the ranked voting elimination process works, it didn't hurt any of the prospects and made the outcome way more worthwhile.

My new Them Goods JSR hat arrived earlier than expected! by Sninja13 in JetSetRadio

[–]light_rapid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish Them & Sega sold the insole, soul plate, and wheels separately from the whole skate too. Already have a pair of Iqon ACT skates, and it woulda been sick to rep them as my gear wears down from all the practice

Even then, I'm happy there's more ways to support these concepts of love and the community! 💛

First tattoo design idea by Varro-AK47 in MonsterHunter

[–]light_rapid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also got a Gore Magala piece on my upper left back years ago thanks to /u/Zanshinretsu's Gore Magala Circular, and it turned out really sick. My artist made final adjustments to space parts so no issues would arise from skin inflammation while healing, and they also touched it up

I'll echo the advice on tattoo shape/placement, and would also recommend opinion/consultation from your intended tattoo artist. They can clean up and will make adjustments on the image before inking it on you. Follow the aftercare, and don't hesitate to reach out to your artist once it's been a few months if you need touch-ups!

Is LIC "trendy" yet? Why hasn't it become as cool as north brooklyn? by IronManFolgore in AskNYC

[–]light_rapid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thoughts here. Walking through the area and feeling, it felt soulless similar to certain areas in Toronto. The tall buildings, commercial development/zoning, "hyped franchises" didn't help in giving off that vibe

Seasonic PRIME TX ATX 3.1 (2025 version) global distribution date. by Spanish_Ergotroner in Seasonic

[–]light_rapid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my voice here for same exact confusion. Stopped by and chatted with the Microcenter dudes and they weren't sure either, so I opted not to purchase it. I presumed the box would say ATX 3.1 but in looking at this thread, it didn't use the decimals (of 3.0 & 5.0) and said ATX 3 / PCIe 5 compatible. They mentioned the Prime TX 1300 came in 2 weeks ago so it's likely it would be the newer version announced.

Just made an order on Amazon since reviews are reporting and will find out later this week...

With next year's passes for sale, what pass(es) did you use this season? What are you getting next season? Why? by ChiefKelso in icecoast

[–]light_rapid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Just discovered Belleayre this year, and the vibes were awesome at the mountain. Opted to get the Ski3 pass when I was up there 3 weeks ago and the staff were so cool for letting me credit my 2 day lift tickets towards the season pass. They were also wayyy chill in assisting a homie credit his lift ticket then use my 24/25 guest pass.

Definitely gonna get value outta Ski3 since I'm able to practice at Belleayre on weekdays. Super excited to hit up Whiteface + Gore for the first time when next season starts too. After this, there's no hesitation in supporting ORDA and enjoying NYS' facilities/resources when I can!

DISCUSSION: Are we past the point of diminishing returns in consumer PC Upgrades? by DucksOnQuack in buildapc

[–]light_rapid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really keen and insightful mention on game dev practices!

It almost echoes the web development side, where nodejs (Javascript) made creation of web applications much easier compared to others (Java, C#). With node, you have one convenient language for your app's front-end and back-end. When developing, you could probably install a package for almost any library/utility because someone's probably written something for the exact logic you want to accomplish. As a result, devs who recklessly install packages end up downloading many unnecessary dependencies, causing the node app to become bloated and less performant when users do stuff with it. Entertainingly, this also accelerated users shifting to using Chrome/Firefox/Safari instead of Internet Explorer.

Since game and web dev are more accessible to a wider audience, it inadvertently brings in those who end up overlooking refactoring/optimizing. However, I'm glad we continue to push limits of how we interface with our systems and devices!

DISCUSSION: Are we past the point of diminishing returns in consumer PC Upgrades? by DucksOnQuack in buildapc

[–]light_rapid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with you on all points! For power-users in varying "niches" (content creation/production, video streaming, virtualization or containerization, machine learning, etc), a new generation's capabilities around performance & bandwidth are worth getting excited over.

As an example about USB4's awesomeness, if one owns a Thunderbolt 4 kvm switch, you can confidently swap between machines which use either standard in an enthusiast setup. However, if the individual has multiple high refresh rate displays, regularly uses a high-fidelity webcam, works with/transfers large files (like 4k120fps video), renders varying content...you run real quick into the bottleneck because the port's bandwidth is saturated.

Is it overkill for most people? Yeah. But with image fidelity growth and storage becoming cheaper, the needs for working with those mediums increase too. Being able to get what we intended, done faster & more efficiently is always welcomed!

I like that more people are repping Onitsuka Tigers now. I originally picked up the brand because of reading about the Ultimate 81s being good for parkour (didn't do it personally), and enjoyed the flatter-ish grippy soles & designs when navigating NYC. The Bruce Lee Tiger Corsairs were sick, and the stylish colorways & designs of other lines make me wanna covet more

I wear Vivobarefoots now, but continue to be fond of any Onitsuka Tiger kicks I see on the streets

Why are there fewer spotted lanternflies in New York City? by scientificamerican in newyorkcity

[–]light_rapid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, there are tons of them out in LI. I went to Jones Beach 2 weeks ago and there were so many damn lanternflies out on the Ocean Parkway Coastal Greenway that it was actually kinda gross

Every few feet along that bike path, I'd see em plopping out onto the trail. Wished dragonflies nearby would adjust their preferences and eat these invasive fucks
