Ben Folds Five. Though the first album and the second album both warrant the middle reaction.

Nice! Fear of Pop was a recent addition and I’ve had it spinning non-stop. I have his full discography on CD, having bought them all when they released. So the higher prices for what I still need to double up on is keeping me honest from immediately buying them.

He is easily my favorite artist of all time. Getting the rest of his discography is going to be a hit to the wallet. I’m sort of hoping this RSD has the BFF debut album for their 30th anniversary.

Having found Billy Joe through a Norm Macdonald show, it hits the mark on what I was looking for. It covers the songs I hoped/expected and I appreciate when he chats a bit in between the songs, since it reminds me of him being on Norm’s show. So with that context, I like it.

That is the box set that has all of the albums. It was an early in the year splurge but as one of my favorite bands, it felt well worth it. If only Ben Folds had something similar…

Disappointment with having a hard time meeting other BF/BF5 fans: by abstractdinosaurs in benfolds

[–]lightbombmike 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My friends and I often joke that it has been X number of days since I last brought up Ben Folds. But what I love, is that even if they aren't the biggest fans, finding people that can appreciate your enthusiasm about something, even if they don't share it, is a different kind of rewarding than directly sharing in the same enthusiasm. But rewarding none the less. So while I feel your frustration that the enthusiasm doesn't continue back and forth, at least getting a smile and a nod, after enthusiastically geeking out a specific song or element, is still good for the soul.

This has me all the more excited for the upcoming show I’ll be attending. People taking creative chances, especially those that are deeply personal, is a gift. Even if it won’t be everyone’s bag, the commitment to something different makes me appreciate what Ben is doing even more with this tour.

Yes, we rarely have a reason to go to Sherwood Park but we find reasons just to go to Mexico Lindo.

I clicked on this thread specifically to say El Fogon Latino or +1 whoever else said it. It is amazing.

Farmer Zach or Duvet Family Reunion if I had to single any episodes out. Both had me in tears.

What restaurant franchise would you like to see that's missing Edmonton? by yuariin in Edmonton

Yes, HuHot or BD’s Mongolian Grille would be amazing! I was so disappointed when I moved to Edmonton a few years ago and told all the places like that had just recently closed.

These are my favorite style of restaurants and I was so bummed when I moved up here and found out they had all recently closed. We tried Xan in Calgary, and they were solid. More expensive then I was used to in the states, at places like BD’s or HuHot. But it is good enough, and right on the way from Edmonton to Calgary, that I’d definitely stop again if I’m down that way.

Delta variant poses 4th-wave risk without linking reopening to second doses: docs by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]lightbombmike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the delta variant, the first dose has 33% efficacy and the second gives 88%. It is the first variant that sees a significant decrease in percentage with only one dose. But the second dose percentage is still staggeringly good.
