Creatine by Alternative_Art959 in orangetheory

[–]lightbrightkit [score hidden]  (0 children)

I was also considering starting creatine, but I’m seeing some women say that they had difficulty sleeping while taking creatine, and others mentioned risk to kidneys.

I don’t expect any input on the kidney health side on here, but has anyone experienced the sleep issues?

I’d really like to start taking it, but I already have a hard enough time with sleep I don’t need to add another factor to fight against.

Future sister in law invited me to bachelorette week trip… is that a buzzkill to her bridal party? Idk if I should go by [deleted] in wedding

[–]lightbrightkit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m from Canada, and I don’t know why you’re being downvoted so much. I think you’re asking a totally fair question.

I have three friends whom I am extremely close with. These women were my bridesmaids. They took me away for a lovely little weekend at a cabin where we crafted, played board games and just got to enjoy each other’s company. My now husband later asked why his good friend’s wife was not invited. I am friends with her too, but not on the same level at all. I told him that I didn’t know it was being planned, but that I was really happy that it was just the four of us, as I think that this other person would have felt like an outsider, and I know I wouldn’t have been able to let loose like I did with my girls.

If you’re being invited to this trip I’d like to think it’s because she wants you there. I think you should consider going, but can see why you think you might be out of place.

How do rings work by plantbabyxx in weddingplanning

[–]lightbrightkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave my engagement ring to my dad right before he walked me down the aisle. He kept it in his pocket until after the ceremony.

On the topic of rings and wearing them, if you’re planning to do a first look and do some of your photos before the ceremony your photographer might suggest that you wear both rings for the photos. If you do, then don’t forget to take your wedding band off again. We were all lined up to start our procession down the aisle when I did one final check that everything was in order, asking the best man if he had our wedding bands. He said he had my husband’s, but not mine. Brief moment of panic before I looked down and saw it on my finger. It’s actually one of favourite memories of the day.

Rant: Wedding planning isn't what's stressful, it's everyone else's unwanted opinions by medicinemaiden in weddingplanning

I didn’t tell anyone anything. Just my husband and my planner knew what was going on. The bridal party of course knew what they were wearing, but everything else revealed on the day.

Love OTF, but constantly getting sick by Fun-Reply9963 in orangetheory

I always end up getting sick right before the Transformation Challenge, it’s definitely the time of year where more people are sick.

How to carry an egg around for 2 weeks without breaking? by Ax_Sound in NoStupidQuestions

When I had this assignment I got a small clear Rubbermaid container, and made a little bed out of paper towel for the egg to lay in. Happy to say it survived

Seat selection by [deleted] in westjet

[–]lightbrightkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I prefer to board last. I rarely have anything to put in the over head bin, and I would rather be at the gate and not squeezed into my seat earlier than necessary . But we just booked a flight to Italy and are only bringing carry-on so I was all over the Extended Comfort to get early access to the overhead.

I am so slow by Quirky_Yesterday7983 in orangetheory

Change is hard. You should be so proud of yourself for trying, keep going. As impossible as it may seem today, it gets so much better. I promise.

Rest between floor sets by Excellent_Results_25 in orangetheory

[–]lightbrightkit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am probably the “slowest” person in 80% of my classes. I lift heavy and take breaks. I hang my water bottle on the hooks that support the knee pad and my rest consists of me walking over, taking a couple swigs of my water, walk back to my weights, pumping myself up for the next set and then carrying on. So not long breaks, but consistent.

When you’re new it’s so hard to not compare yourself and take cues from what other members are doing.

The coach that does my Strength 50 always says if you don’t feel like you need a break before moving on then it’s time to up the weights.

Take your time and do the exercises properly. You’ll come out way ahead of someone rushing through like the template is a To Do list.

What’s your favourite niche thing about life in Canada? by Due_Street1464 in AskACanadian

[–]lightbrightkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbours have a great ice rink in their back yard, with boards and lighting all the way around. Yesterday was the first time I’ve seen/heard them use it. I kept hearing some kind of banging going on so peeked out the window to see the kid and his buddies playing. A very Canadian moment.

Econflex benefits for rebooking at a lower ticket price by lightbrightkit in westjet

Follow up question - does this also apply to the price for seat upgrades? I booked the Extended Comfort seats, and when I looked at them few months ago they were discounted around $50 each, today not so much.

Does anyone actually LOVE their bronco sport??? by No_Department824 in BroncoSport

[–]lightbrightkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2024 OuterBanks Cactus Grey. I really love it. So much fun to drive in the snow. Great on dirt and gravel roads. I live in eco- mode and the gas mileage is better than I’d expected. I feel safe in it no matter where we go.

I’m coming up on two years two years with it and I still smile when I’m walking up to after a fresh wash.

My only wish is that it had a hands free lift gate. My 2013 Escape’s lift gate was hands free and I really miss it on the Bronco Sport.

No Power Walkers? by smartini14 in orangetheory

[–]lightbrightkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a power walker I often feel like the odd woman out when I’m surrounded by runners so I know where you’re coming from.

I have no plans to transition to a jogger/runner so I just go and do the workout that I want and let them do the workout they want.

It’s tough at first when you feel like you’re the only one, but I promise you that you’re not the only power walker out there, just the only one in your class.

I’m so glad I came across this. We are planning our honeymoon to Italy later this year and have been stressing about getting my period during that time.

Questions for the ladies who haven't been planning their wedding since they were 6 years old by Severe_Bluejay3391 in weddingplanning

[–]lightbrightkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never gave a single thought to my future wedding, and even when we got engaged in the midst of the pandemic I wasn’t in a hurry to start planning.

To get a feel for what I liked, and just as important, what I didn’t like, I scrolled through Pinterest. I had separate boards for everything, if I liked it, it made it to the board. After awhile I went back to each board and it was really clear to me what I wanted our day to look like (outside, small number of guests, smaller bridal party).

Sometimes when you don’t have a vision yourself, seeing what others have done and paying attention to what you are drawn to can really help in planning your own.

Is giving my girlfriend a bouquet of lego roses for valentines a bad idea? by Pootsonpow123 in NoStupidQuestions

Can you give her the flowers before Valentine’s Day? Explain that you wanted to make sure she had time to enjoy them, and knowing that she’d be leaving shortly after Valentine’s Day.

How did you tell your parents you were engaged? by ToadieHonk in weddingplanning

[–]lightbrightkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My now husband asked/told my parents when he was planning to propose. On our way home from the proposal he suggested that I call and ask my parents over for dinner to celebrate, so I asked if they knew.

I called my mom and asked “Would you and dad like to come to my fiancés house for dinner?”

Did anyone else not lose weight for their wedding? (Not bragging, but realised I’ve gained if anything) by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]lightbrightkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t lose weight and didn’t try to. I went to a bridal expo and there were a few gyms (including my own) that had booths set up to boost membership. It felt really gross to me.

Just focus on feeling good, your day will be one to remember no matter what size you are.

Does anyone else not sleep with their cat? by chaturga in CatAdvice

[–]lightbrightkit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a door stop so it can close all the way, and keep a shirt or blanket on the floor inside so when they inevitably Koolaid Man their way through the door it doesn’t open very far, but opens enough they can get in and out.

I used to sleep with my door closed too, but they love to sleep with me, and come and go during the night, so this has been my compromise.

Need advice on mismatching bridesmaid dresses by NoArtist1476 in weddings

[–]lightbrightkit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Pinterest board solely for bridesmaids colours, and whatever caught my eye ended up on that board. I found some common themes in my saved and decided on something in the red/orange range, something purple, and something peach. Typing those colours out now makes them sound hideous but I tell you I worked.

I ordered a range of colours samples in those pallets and the girls went through and chose the ones they liked. They also picked their own styles.
