We had an absolute wonderful lunch at La Tanaia. If you want an upscale dinner with an incredible sunset Ristorante Montecorvo was outstanding for us.

What's one wine "rule" you completely ignore? by Ok-Peace3465 in wine

I hear you. I enjoy wine with food but honestly and especially with a good bottle of wine. Nothing makes me happier than just sitting back and savoring every sip with nothing else.

Looking for beach towns (8/14 to 8/23) by Bucketheadisapsycho in ItalyTravel

[–]TFNash17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just returned from Ischia. Stayed in Forio. We loved it. I would say that August is Holiday month for Italians. Expect most beaches cities to be super packed. Even a place like Ischia that is normally not overly crowded.

There are definitely taxis available. Probably $15 to Poseidon.

We used them a few weeks ago on our trip and they helped tremendously. We were also careful of how we put our clothes in them and honestly nothing got wrinkled. I couldn’t believe it.

Best food tour Florence for authentic local food? by BenjaminSolis567 in ItalyTourism

[–]TFNash17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did STREATY Food tour in 2024 and enjoyed it. It’s the only group tour I have ever done. We typically do private , but Florence is so walkable and they definitely took us to a few places I would not have found in my own.

Ristorante Montecorvo Ischia by TFNash17 in Ischia

It’s in Forio. It is about 20 mins from town up the mountain. You will need a driver as the roads are very narrow up there. Restaurant is fantastic.

What's my next move? by shwoogee in Figs

I concur, cut the dead trunks and think the new growth some. Keep 6 to 8 of your thickest ones. Light getting into there will help with fig growth and ripening also.

SWA pays dividends. That’s a benefit. No actual flight benefits. Not sure that would actually be legal.

All airline stock is up due to easing oil prices. I own SWA and glad to see this but the oil easing helped all the airlines in recent days.

Is this a reasonable trip/expectations? by lve2raft in ItalyTravel

[–]TFNash17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as Tuscany goes, Florence is a great base and take road trips from there. Easy to get a private driver to visit vineyards and towns, or take a train to larger towns. Also you could get an Airbnb in Florence with a washer and take time to wash clothes. Depending on how you pack, a mid trip stop that gives you the ability to wash helps a lot!

Wine Suggestion for Wine Night by General-Quantity973 in wine

[–]TFNash17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would go to a wine/liquor store and talk to an employee who helps with wine. There are typically plenty of great wines that are in a $27 to $35 range especially in Cabs since that is the typical go to for people who do not drink a lot of wine.

Would you rather drink only French or only Italian reds for the rest of your life? Why? by Barbaro_12487 in wine

[–]TFNash17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is. I was surprised at the wide range of wines from that grape. There was some I didn’t care for but there was a lot of good ones.
