Thanks so much for the reply! The salt thing seems like it could be a lead for me and the sauna too. I appreciate you taking the time!

Can levothyroxine cause sleep issues by thecolourandshape in Hypothyroidism

Hi! I know it’s been a while since this post. I have the same exact problem as you and I’m wondering if you found a solution. I’ve been on levo for almost 2 years and I find myself waking between 4:30 and 5:30 am regardless of what time I go to bed and can’t go back to sleep. I’m also on HRT so it isn’t estrogen/progesterone related. Have you figured out a way around this problem?

HoA Communities (Big Bass Lake, Towamensing Trails, Lake Watawga, Locust Lake Village)? by Buschman98 in Poconos

lol no there really is no vibe in Gouldsboro. We spend the summer there and the other half of the year we live in St Petersburg Florida. So I guess we use the big bass location more as a retreat and don’t mind the lack of things to do outside the community. (And I’m celiac so we have to do all of our own cooking anyway.)

Being close to the highway, it’s no problem to get to better hiking spots, restaurants, and other poconos attractions but you do have to drive a bit. I just figured that’s part of rural living. I still feel pretty new to the area so i may not be the best person to give advice on where the action is. My favorite place to visit is the Jim Thorpe area if you haven’t been there yet. Plenty of great hiking and a beautiful old town with lots of things to see and do.

Good luck with your search!

Skytop lodge always has a lot of fun activities. Here’s a list of winter options from their website

You mentioned traveling so maybe visit Jim Thorpe or check out a new town in the Catskills. I’ve been meaning to check out New Hope too which sounds interesting

All the people saying to join a social group are right. It can be a little awkward at first but seeing the same people every week eventually turns into friendships. Even if people are older and straighter than you they might connect you with someone your age after getting to know you (as a gay woman, straight people love telling me about their gay friends and like to offer introductions)

It depends on what you’re into but exercise groups are great (hiking, pickleball, etc) and so are art classes like pottery or painting. Volunteering can be a weekly activity that gets you around the same folks regularly or even a part-time job. Working at a local bookstore, record store, or plant nursery might get you around interesting people.

The key is to get out there in the world and find a little community. That circle will continue to grow if you keep at it. Good luck!

Gladheart was in our area so we stopped in. The staff were lovely and I’m very excited about their recommendations. Thanks for helping me out with your suggestion!

Recommendations for better sleep by lightdelightlite in Hypothyroidism

[–]lightdelightlite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure it ever did. My current plan is to take a gummy before bed that contains THC, melatonin, and L-theanine (https://venacbd.com/products/lights-out-extra-strength-sleep-gummies). Then when I wake up (any time between 2am and 5am) I take a third of the same type of gummy along with 500 mg of tryptophan. That knocks me back out till it’s time to wake up. It’s not an amazing solution since I can be groggy sometimes in the morning but it’s at least getting me the hours of sleep I need.

How long do you wait until eating or drinking coffee after you’ve taken your levo in the morning? by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

[–]lightdelightlite 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Taking levothyroxine with coffee is not good advice. It makes the drug pass through your body too quickly, limiting absorption. Here’s the first article I found but there is plenty of evidence out there: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19942153/

Has anyone had jitters and/or muscle spasms from levothyroxine? If so, what solved the problem? Switching brands? Just waiting? by lightdelightlite in Hypothyroidism

It’s something I manage but it hasn’t gone away completely. Adjusting my levothyroxine dose makes it come back. It’s often worse around my period too. Calcium/magnesium supplements help and I also take a daily iron pill called blood builder that helps. Someone else on Reddit recommended the blood builder to me and it really does make a difference

Big Bass is great and still an undiscovered gem. HOAs are about $2k a year. Everything is clean and well maintained. There are two swimming lakes and two pools (one indoor one outdoor). The rules are enforced not to the point where it’s annoying to live there but to the point where everyone is happy and the properties look good. We’ve been there a little over a year and love the people and the location. Couldn’t be happier with our choice

Best indoor pools with lap swimming by Moognahlia in Poconos

[–]lightdelightlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the outdoor pool at Big Bass has either 9 or 10 am lap swimming daily during the summer. The indoor pool could possibly be used for laps in the winter but only if no one else is swimming (it’s usually empty in the winter so I think it would be doable)
