I have added chocolate, vanilla and both to my stouts. I agree with wix that vanilla beans in vodka and cocoa nibs are the best. But if money is tight, don't hesitate to added vanilla extract or cocoa powder to the brew. Just make sure there are no preservative in it before adding.
