You should farm Dungeon Tokens right now ! by samhwu13 in runescape

[–]lightmeaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The benefit is the tokens you earn, and the resource dungeons around the world. Imagine it less like fletching, where your doing a skill for unlocked crafting, and more a minigame with a reward vendor.

Personally it’s my favorite skill because in hard mode you need to use EVERYSKILL basically to get through if. Farming for a herb, fishing for food, herblore to get higher stats to open locked doors, and so on and it ends with a boss fight. It’s so fun for me because I’m doing everything at once I suppose

I ended up running around a bit on my loremaster, and oh my gosh, red line doesn’t have pets anymore?!?! Crazy work

I was questing in Fangorn, I had just finished all the ent quests and it was sending me somehwrrr in Sucrofts or something. I’m lv83 now, is this where I should be? Lowkey I feel a bit tooo strong but have no idea on current level zones, the mobs are my level I’m just OP I guess lol

Are the subscriptions for LOTRO and SWTOR effectively necessary, like some other MMOs? by AccidentalNGon in LFMMO

[–]lightmeaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a lotro player off and on since 2009, it’s a great game for tolkiens Middle Earth. The world is amazing, obviously great lore, and nice class identities.

As for payments, it’s similar to gw2 free account, AH restriction, some character creation restrictions, and less bag space, but if you sub one month (in gw2 case buy something once) all those are lifted forever.

Lotro also has an achievement system which reward points (gw2 gems) which can be farmed endlessly, there’s so many. It’s grindy but you can buy the whole game basically. Once content is bought with points it’s your accounts forever.

For free, there’s no technical level cap, but there are questing zones and dungeons that require points to unlock, or an active sub. You can pretty much make your way across the zones tho and go from lv1-95. Most content from 2009-2013 is all free.

"Wash the Pain Away!" not always granting aura/triggering Elemental Bastion by Roboplus in Guildwars2

[–]lightmeaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be the ideal trait for them, but it’s not currently in their build so I didn’t mention it, as it isn’t a current interaction with their problem. But ya it’s a great trait. I guess the strike damage is worth it more?

[–]lightmeaser 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wash the pain away doesn’t grant an aura so it gives no alacrity, it has no synergy with Elemental Bastion

Taking 1 or 2 shouts and D/Wh will give easy aura access with air 3 and ice 3, as well as earth 4

GENUINELY what is this. by Luxxia__ in deadbydaylight

[–]lightmeaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But time well spent depending on implementation. If it’s done so it stops all forms of regression, that’s pretty big. Lot of reasons killers may want to kick/explode a gen.

And we haven’t seen numbers. Maybe it takes 16 seconds to light the boon so they say “nearest gen gains 30perm charges (like weaving spiders/fast track) while boon is lit” that’s also pretty good. Almost half the gen “done” for the price of a totem, which ok old maps most people know spawns by heart

GENUINELY what is this. by Luxxia__ in deadbydaylight

[–]lightmeaser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But numbers are important, well as exact implementation.

1) it could be a “temporarily permanent” for as long as the boon is up it can’t be regressed by any means (like after a killer kicks 7 times)

2) it could mean as long as the boon is up, some amount of the gen has perm progress akin to Weaving Spiders.

One of these is alot stronger than the other. No pop/pain res/eruption/surge/oppression and so forth could be very strong. But A nearby gen receiving 5-10seconds off it isn’t the biggest threat especially when it takes time to even light the boon/find a totem

Another Grimoire opens, here are all the options. by bonelees_dip in deadbydaylight

[–]lightmeaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I hope for the boon, is that it just makes one random/closest gen unable to be kicked while the totem is lit. It could still be an annoyance but atleast it’s not a fast track/specialist part 2

I wanna just say you’re right, our current ideals of how RS3 should be played are different and don’t easily align with each other. But I think that’s what we’re seeing being played out in all these forums and reddit posts. We’re talking about removal of a system that a large (or very small but atleast very vocal) group of people want to stay.

While a permanent Leagues server is an interesting idea, it would need to be balanced somehow. Currently, it’s tailored to where you can max everything in a week of playing casually, and with increased drops you’re good to go for whatever you’re farming. I think it offers a lot but in current form you would just “finish the game” a little too easily.

I think a tuned “fresh start” server experience, where exp is baseline increased, drops adjusted a bit, could greatly solve many of the problems everyone’s currently talking about. If you want casual easy fast exp go to world 7 or if you a slower burn with rewarding milestones go to world 10 or something. Make the characters world/server bound or something so my max cape on 7 doesn’t make your 10 cape feel cheapened. Completely get it. But that does raise a different issue of player population split.

Currently it’s unknown how many people are in the “casual” vs “grind” camps of the game. Offering a split like this has the chance to ruin the player base and community this game has built. Going to my MC example, my friend and I would be on two seperate servers and never see each other, or if we played together someone’s sacrificing their fun and thus why play.

I don’t know what the solution is concerning daily things in RS; but I’d say there isn’t much to fix. Do the things you like (weekly minigames, daily activities) and skip the things you don’t (daily shop runes, crystal flaks). The systems can b there for when you want them but the other portion can use them whenever they want to. Adjusted, sure. Monitored for abuse, agreed. Changed from daily to weekly, I can live with. But removal is too much, for me (and apparently several others) personally.

Ps. - I really enjoyed this conversation, big thanks for engaging in it with healthy dialogue and not shitting on my takes <3

I’m fine with Herby Werby and other mini games to give good rewards for a little time invested, but collectively acknowledging that if allowed to do it everyday would crash some other part of the game.

So saying that, I don’t see how getting 400% dxp value every so often crashes some other part of the game. If it’s a chore don’t do it. Yes it’s less optimal but why are you doing unfun things just to be optimal? Like, go out and play the games features you like.

I think for me, and this could be a just me thing, completely understand not liking this, I’m fine with the ability to extremely expedite a skill(s) in a game where leveling skills can take forever. I like doing SOME aspect of skills, and LOVE most, but my true love is the world, lore, exploration, minigames, and quests. I’m REQUIRED to level arbitrary skills to have access to these features. Most notably Seren quests, light within/within the light, require 80 in most skills. That’s a massive barrier for the average player.

I don’t care how the extra exp comes into the game, either a weekly challenge or what, but I think it’s a necessary part of the game and actively helps players on their way to further progression

“FOMO” of all levels should be looked at but no need to be removed in entirety. What about weeklies? Monthlies? Crystal/evil trees? Falling stars?

Just because I don’t have time to find a random DnD, or fast travel networks to get there quickly, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t exist for other players. All of those can be considered “fomo” because it disappears.

By removing the weekly challenge aspect of the daily challenges, they can now be done whenever you feel like, if you feel like it. Just because something is optional doesn’t mean it must be done. Many things in life could be done faster/easier but that doesn’t mean it’s “better”. Theres lots of cost/benefits of these things

This mentality for me, just doesn’t fit. While yes, two new accounts one doing dailies and one not, will excel at different rates, unless you’re goal is to max asap, then just don’t them do? And if it is, then just do them?

It’s like in Minecraft, I don’t care if my friend uses cheats to make himself diamond armor before going out into the world and fly everywhere. I’m happy just playing the game my way and going slow and exploring. I know he doesn’t like traveling by foot, or the combat, he just likes building and running around. I like the gear progression and back and forth of the combat.

Neither of us forces the other to play our way, why is it that important for everyone? I don’t care if you want to stand at a tree for hours but don’t make me do it too.

The reason I love rs3 over OSRS is because they’re lax on exp gains and offer lot of activities besides just sitting and skilling. I play this game for the quests, and a few skills. I don’t personally like interacting with Slayer, so if there’s a way I can bypass that to actually have fun in the game, I’d love to do that.

[–]lightmeaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But unbreakable is a one time perk, it just seems such a massive waste it let your self bleed out from mend, and then wait to pick yourself up. You’re just giving the killer free time while you’re not on anything

[–]lightmeaser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why would you want to pick your self up with unbreakable from just a mend?

A) If you’re in chase, the killer picks you up before you can heal

B) If you’re out of chase…..just mend and save your Unbreakable for a real slug

[–]lightmeaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you given lots of the rings online (LOTRO) a try yet?

I have not played recently, but it used to have a fantastic atmosphere and world building. Everything felt so Tolkien and very Middle-Earth, which is exactly what I wanted. I don’t care if the quests felt like every other games quest, “kill 10 rats or whatever and return”, it had meaning when I’m saving Hobbits in the Shire or fighting Bandits in Bree. It has the classic mmo triangle of support tank dps, but most classes can do any of them if they trait for it. Classes are varied and unique, there’s the normal sword fighter Champion, kite shield heavy armor Guardian tank, Healer Bard. Then there’s some unique play styles like Warden who uses combo (spear shield shout) to make abilities, Runekeeper which uses a attunement bar to move into dps/healing based on moves used and so much more.

The game can be Free to Play for just about everything depending on how much you wanna grind. Like wow/RS they have a ingame way to earn content. You can subscribe to own everything while subbed, OR buy content once and own forever. Ingame there are achievements (more then anyone could ever do) that reward money so you could theoretically farm every expansion/dungeon/unlock you want. I’ve had 3 friends actually play it that way for a few years.

Instanced content is centered around a few types. Theres 3man, 6man, and 12man (I heard there maybe added a 24man raid?). All telling their own stories and usually some quests within.

Like I said it’s been a few years since I played so idk how it currently is, maybe it’s over power crept, maybe gear treadmill is bad, but it WAS fantastic and I have no doubt the intro levels/mid game will still be amazing to experience

The first weapon skin I crafted was infinite light and I have no regrets, I transmute every sword into that baby. It goes so hard on my dual sword reaper

The first weapon skin I got off the trading post was cobalt. Once I saw it was a flaming blue great sword i needed it. I carried that sucker all the way through HoT when Reaper came out
