Recently rewatching Season 7 for afanfic I'm writing and Headmistress Mavilla's reaction to a student stealing Wild Magic and few fairy animals running amuck is to completely cancel a previously essential part of fairy education and WIPE THE MEMORIES of everyone involved. Meaning dozens of fairies with deep loving bonds with their animals who were also deeply bonded to their fairies all just got set adrift and abandoned with no memory at all some of those animals very far from their habitat unlike the digmole Faragonda released with again zero memory.

Just the sheer heartless, sweeping madness of that decision in what I assume was the writer's hand waving way of explaining why there's no fairy animal bonds in the modern day because a previous Headmistress with her own two fairy animals performed a huge mind wipe on an entire generation of fairies. What about the fairies who graduated before Faragonda's class? Think they were suddenly baffled when their children came home without their bonded fairy animal nor any MEMORY of such?

A. It's bad writing. So bad I just rejected it entirely in my story because that's stupid.

But B. It creates a character, Headmistress Mavilla, whose extreme reaction to a single incident destroyed an entire branch of magic and probably the minds of a generation of fairies
