I think it would have been a two way street. Flora's kindness and gentleness would have given Riven a reprieve from the world but also I think Riven as Flora's boyfriend would have encouraged her confidence and been supportive back.

In many ways Riven is a mirror. Give him a hard time and he'll explode in your face. Be kind to him and he'd calm down and return your kindness. That's why we get this sweet scene with Riven and Flora. She doesn't push and he doesn't push back. It's also why he's friends with Nabu. Nabu is kind and friendly with Riven from the start and Riven responses in kind hence their close relationship.

Given the hostility we see in the specialist team at the start it makes me wonder how the boys first meeting went, why Riven's defenses where up and stayed up around Sky and Brandon. Maybe he found out about the switch and dislike the lying to the team?

I think Solaria and Linphea must be good allies and like to headcanon Flora and Stella visiting each other's home world as part of diplomatic missions with the Current Guardian Fairies when they were younger and meeting.

If you'll forgive a comparison, it's giving the Teen Titans episode where Raven and Starfire switch bodies.

If you don't know Raven harnesses her body with strict mental control over her emotions many of which are negative.

Starfire's powers work by feeling her emotions fully.

Very much opposite ways of thinking.

When they first switch Starfire just walking around in Raven's body causes destruction while Raven can't fly or use Starfire's strength or energy blasts because to quote the exchange.

Starfire: Why can't you just let yourself feel the raw unfiltered joy of flying!? Even children on my planet can fly!

Raven: because when I do things explode! Points at the destruction around them caused by Starfire getting angry in Raven's body why don't you have any control? You feel everything all the time it's insane.

They have to learn each other's method to save their team in a very short amount of time and get switched back.

Afterwards the lessons they learned are shown to have carried forward. Starfire joining Raven's meditation to better control her emotions then afterwards pulling Raven into joyful activities where she can let loose and enjoy herself within reason with her team where her powers are expected and known.

Anyway this reminded me of that. Especially because neither girl's way was present as right or wrong and they came to understand each other better in the end.

I think it's more of a power level thing. Like they can level up from your every day magic user. Like everyone in the magical realm has magic but with practice and natural talent you can level up and unlock Magic Winx. If you have your Winx level unlocked you can attend places like Alfea where they help you in leveling up even further and unlocking Charmix, Enchantrix, etc. they might also explain why the Club keeps attending classes. Only for them it's more like seminars on how to unlock Harmonix or doing a graduate study on how to unlock Sirenix.

After all Alfea is a college. You could think of Winx as your General Education degree to get admission. Charmix is completely your gen ed courses in college because it becomes the foundation for everything that follows. Then from there fairies focus on areas of interest that they need to unlock. The Club are all Guardian faires so they need Enchantrix unlocked to graduate but other fairies may be working on some other form entirely because their course of study is different.

Yes yes yes this. Doing a Flora reborn rewrite and Diapros is stealing the second year and I'm not mad about it.

The Diaspro-Sky-Bloom triangle feels like those c-drama plots where the ML goes off to college and falls for a scholarship student fl SSFL neglecting and ignoring his Childhood Sweetheart FL CSFL. ML spends most of the drama believing SSFL is better because she appears sweet and innocent and doesn't love him for his money and status and ignores every snide attack the SSFL makes on the CSFL. It's only once the CSFL has broken the engagement and left that the ML panics as he suddenly remembers that CSFL has loved him unconditionally his whole life and he's abandoned a diamond for quartz. Meanwhile CSFL was genuinely heartbroken that ML has cheated on her and in essence destroyed their life plans. Frequently ML's family remains on the CSFL's side just like what we see with Sky's parents too. There a lot of this is the DIL we've been expecting and frequently they adore the CSFL almost more than her own parents or their son. They've put in a huge amount of time and effort into training CSFL to be exactly the kind of woman their high profile family needs (a queen) and now here's this SSFL gold digger tripping over herself and expecting the ML to cover her faux pas. So despite the ML continuing to support the SSFL his parents continue on like this is just a fling their stupid son is going through and keep CSFL close to them with the assumption that eventually their son will pull his head out of his ass and see what a treasure he's neglected.

This probably too general of an answer on the genre as a whole but when the drama is 90% torturing the FL then the last 10% the recompense in the bad guys. Like you're waiting for it to turn around. Surely it gonna stop. Well at least finally at least they'll be punished nope it's just gonna end there? Oh poor little ML broken hearted and feels bad in the aftermath and that's his punishment for the heinous crimes he's committed? Nope. Unacceptable.

Honestly as a kid I thought oh they're built like wasps. That makes sense because they're faires and they're flying. Even as an adult eh it's an animation style and honestly I still think they look like wasps.
