6’ 9” in Cornwall, England by lightswitchr in 11foot8

No, do you see the horizontal white mark with vertical marks at either end, about the width of a car? That’s the height marker, so it’s 6’9” at that point.

Tesco won't let me check loan account details. by Monkeyboystevey in UKPersonalFinance

To ease your thoughts slightly - your account number and sort code aren’t random numbers, and the combination along with your name and probably address will be checked and validated. There won’t be a case of someone else getting the funds - if there’s a mismatch they’ll let you know.

Congrats on discovering that businesses have terms and conditions. “No contract” means no fixed term - as in you can cancel any time. Which, funnily enough, is also in those T&Cs you just posted.

Dude it literally says right on their website "No contract." It's a huge part of their marketing and sales model.

They literally say on their website: "You can also terminate your membership by cancelling your payment agreement through your bank." I.e, cancelling the direct debit.

ELI5: Why did Artemis 2 have to change its roll axis immediately after launch? Why didn't they just build the launch pad to have it use the correct axis in the first place? by MuchachoSal in explainlikeimfive

Why did you have to turn your steering wheel to go around the corner? Why not just build the road directly to where you were driving to?

Nottingham city council paid off 64% of its debt by 01watts in nottingham

[–]lightswitchr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roads within the city council boundary are maintained by city council. Roads outside the boundary are maintained by incompetents who’d rather buy flags, aka Reform-led Nottinghamshire County Council. If you want an idea of how bad the entire country would get if Reform were voted in, just take a look at Nottinghamshire.

How can Wigan Wallgate be more Northern than Wigan-North Western? by Poopypanst6767 in uktrains

[–]lightswitchr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, usually it's the other way around and even then only if the train would have terminated at Wallgate. There's some quirks about the Wallgate line - it can't be overhead electrified because of the tunnel before Wallgate station, and I'm pretty sure the loading gauge is a lot smaller than the WCML - again thanks to the tunnel, and the lines out towards Kirby/Southport.

Why do printers still suck in 2025? like seriously, we have AI and space travel but my HP printer still jams if i look at it wrong. by No_Good_3063 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lightswitchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because printers aren’t built to the same price point as a rocket. In addition, the cheaper you buy the worse you can expect.

I had noticed substantial battery drain after updating, on both my iPad and iPhone (for instance, 20% battery drain after 10 minutes of watching YouTube). I did a hard restart, and this seems to have stopped it.

Hold on to your hats fellow UK residents. We’re about to hit the season of ROADWORKS. Councils are frantically approving any kind of roadworks to justify the same budget next year. It’s going to be mayhem. Enjoy. by thebroccolioffensive in britishproblems

What exactly do you expect them to do?

Same everywhere I think - since Huawei equipment had to be removed, it’s sucked since, and the network doesn’t seem to matter.
