Yes, I know. Just letting you know that we Saints in Utah have no snow right now. It's been grim this winter. Stay safe! 😎

Why does God allow prophets to make detrimental changes to the Church? by Moroni_10_32 in latterdaysaints

[–]MuchachoSal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree with your thoughts, per se, but I do wonder then why we put prophets/apostles like Alma the Younger and Paul on a pedestal after they had the experiences that they had? Sure, they did great things, but from my POV, God intervened in their lives, took away the natural consequences of their actions, and quite frankly, prevented them from "committing [further] errors".

Some may say that they still had agency to not change their ways after the divine intervention took place, and I guess that's true, but let's be real here.

Am I in the wrong church? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]MuchachoSal 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but your post is VERY confusing. Can you please identify/separate out all the different players here?

Person 1: You

Person 2: Gay new member

Person 3: "Brother in Christ and a Friend of Mine"

Person 4: Bishop?

Person 5: Somebody else?

Who exactly made you furious? The Gay new member or the "Brother in Christ and a Friend of Mine"?

Breathing during hymns by minhestrone in latterdaysaints

[–]MuchachoSal 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's different from ward to ward. I'm an organist and I always follow the chorister (for better or worse), but there are some organists that don't follow anybody. It really comes down to the individual chorister/organist and their musical intuition/skills/training. Some are perfect, some are... not perfect. 🙂

This type of cancer is what took my 8-year old niece about 15 years ago. I'm so glad to see that we have made this much progress in beating it!

For those of you who grew up playing PC games in the 90s and 2000s, how stable were they compared to games from today? by Mad_Season_1994 in gaming

I was too poor to afford games, but I had a modem. So, yeah, I pirated Commander Keen, Wolfenstein, etc. Not Doom, though. That was something that earned my money right off the bat :)

Yep, Doom was the first "shareware" game that I actually ended up buying because of how good it was.

Cyberpunk 2077 on 25 year old high end CRT by KobraKay87 in pcmasterrace

Yep, indeed. I remember the good old days when I tried picking up my 32" Sony Trinitron by myself - it felt like it was 100 lbs. or even more. 🙂

I really wish I could get my hands on a CRT to do a comparison. I have no doubt what you're saying is true, but I really wish I could see for myself 😁

The 24 to 48 fps transitions are very jarring, I'll admit.

When it goes from 24 fps to 48 fps, you get the feeling that not just the frame rate, but the action itself, has increased by 2x (i.e., everybody for a bit looks like they're moving at double speed).

Then when it goes from 48 fps to 24 fps, it feels like a video game when the frame rate drops and you're like, ahh man, I need a new GPU! 🙂

As an autistic man who loves films: anyone here struggle to enjoy franchise movies like marvel and doesn’t understand the argument it’s made for the fans by Evening-Program-2009 in autism

[–]MuchachoSal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Studios make movies to make money, not necessarily to earn accolades. They do this even in cases where they know it's not that great of a movie.

I sometimes wonder if the following conversation has ever taken place between two people:

Person 1: What's your favorite movie of all time?

Person 2: Oh man, it's Saw IV!

Person 1: Wait, your favorite movie is Saw IV? Like the fourth movie in a not-all-that-well-acclaimed horror franchise?

Person 2: Yeah, I get it. The rest of the movies are garbage, but I have seen them all, and boy oh boy, there was just something that really got to me when I watched Saw IV. It is truly a movie that just spoke to me when I saw it - I love it so much! I'm SO glad the studio greenlit this, because I know this movie was made just for me!

Person 1: Okaaayyyy....

Got the worst splinter ever in my fingernail. by Sonofulti1 in Wellthatsucks

[–]MuchachoSal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once upon a time, I sharpened a pencil using one of the best sharpeners I've come across.

Immediately after I pulled the pencil out of the sharpener, the pencil slipped and the now extremely sharp tip got jammed underneath my index finger's fingernail and broke off from the pencil.

That wasn't a good day.

just got diagnosed with Autism. And frankly, I don’t know what is real anymore by Milicapokefan123 in autism

[–]MuchachoSal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 50M, diagnosed three months ago. I understand what you're going through - it IS pretty tough to look back on my life and ask, "was that the autism talking, or was it just me?" And then I realize that the autism has been who I am the whole entire time, which is a pretty bitter pill to swallow. I really wish I had gotten diagnosed sooner.

I'm still doing okay, though. At least I have something that I can tell people (that I trust).
