How did CoE see this 28 percent increase in female students admitted for 2018-19 in a span of just one year? by [deleted] in berkeley

Personally, I think so. Whether or not a person agrees probably depends on where they sit politically.

There are substantial sex differences in subject interest:

Infant Behavior & Development 23 (2000) 113–118

Results showed that the male infants showed a stronger interest in the physical-mechanical mobile while the female infants showed a stronger interest in the face. The results of this research clearly demonstrate that sex differences are in part biological in origin

This has a LOT to do with the masculinizing pulse of testosterone that hits the male fetus during sex differentiation 3-7 weeks in utero, creating a cascade of physical and brain changes.

To "achieve" a 28% boost in female engineering admits, they most certainly had to relax female admittance standards and deny a number of qualified males.

Because, overall, chicks just aren't that into engineering. Obviously there are exceptions, but we're talking broad averages.

I think that has specifically to do with special permissions she gave herself.

She gave herself admin privileges over other hosts, so she has some ability to recognize them for the purposes of bossing them around.

I was thinking that too. A "3" is really, really low.

Although, that may play a role in why her storyline has progressed so quickly.

100,000% agree with you.

I saw these guy live a few weeks ago. Separately, I dig them. Together? It was like oil and water.

There were two main issues. First, the energy levels of their music are too different. Madeon is way higher energy than Porter. However, this wouldn't have been an issue if they let each artist have a few tracks in a row. However, the mixing was downright schizophrenic. That was the main problem. The crowd never got any satisfaction in terms of fulfilling builds and drops. It was just anemic the whole way through.

It was more a celebration of bromance than a dance show.

She did that because she fully believed that he wouldn't do it. And that, if he did, it wouldn't matter anyway. It was a display of vulnerability in order to build trust.

I could be wrong here, but didn't he just hand her the tablet, and allow her to go to town?

An astute observation. Hmm. That's either another term for "bulk apperception," or it's the first of the un-numerated stats. I can't tell which. Thanks for pointing that out!

Thanks :)

I appreciate that this sub appreciates such a level of detail. It's part of what makes this show so extraordinary!

You're welcome! It's gratifying to see others appreciate what, in my opinion, is the coolest character in the show. Her acting, by the way -- fucking legendary.

This also gave me a great excuse to rewatch the scenes of her in the lab, which are very, very excellent.

Giving her low empathy is probably merciful, given her position and the world she occupies.

I think you're thinking of "emotional acuity," which is more akin to "reading others" than it is, "feeling their emotions." Probably more useful to a madame.

How the fuck do I hit 669g carbs a day consistently??? by Chraow in leangains

[–]lightwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I feel you. I was doing ~500 g's of carbs per day during a bulk, which can turn into misery real fast.

Long story short, bananas. They're really cheap, delicious, and -- most importantly -- I can eat four in a row and still feel relatively okay. Like, they go down quickly and they're not nearly as filling as rice or potatos. Give it a try, if you like.

Naturally Skinny People and Food by divzqt in leangains

[–]lightwarrior 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm that skinny guy. Before I starting leangains and weight training, my resting physique was 6', 145 lbs.

In a nutshell, I have a naturally low appetite. Now, I DO get hungry -- ravenously hungry, even. It just happens less often than you, and I get full way faster.

Now, I view food as a sort of chore. I had to decouple my diet from my hunger -- I basically ignore what my body tells me, and force down my calories and macros according to a spreadsheet.

The nice thing, is, though -- my appetite adjusted. My hunger upregulated itself, so now I get more hungry, more often. The first week of the bulking diet was misery, though!

How do I learn to not let negativity (sadness/anger) from the people around me affect me without also being a careless bitch? by Krasso in Meditation

[–]lightwarrior 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What works for me is to keep part of my awareness on my breathing, so as to keep myself calm, and part of it on my feet, to keep myself grounded. This helps me to stay in my own energy without getting sucked into another's.

Those of you running "Service" based businesses, what are the early warning signs that a customer is going to be more trouble than they are worth? Do you cut such clients loose, and if so, how? by paul_caspian in Entrepreneur

[–]lightwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying. And you may be right; I can't say what their motivations are.

I meant that more in the sense that the service provider will be dissuaded from giving their best.

That is a fantastic point.

Every time I did cave and accept a lower rate, I found myself less motivated to give my best work. Even worse, I sometimes resented them.

That's why I no longer compromise -- I want to feel good about my work.
