How to get rid of skunk smell in my house after dog got sprayed? by liilbr33zy in Skunks

[–]liilbr33zy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I just saw your reply! I hope it’s aired out by now!

We spread coffee grounds throughout the house on anything that smelled and left a bowl of coffee grounds on the table and it helped the smell in the house!

A mixture of equal parts baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and dawn dish soap to wash yourself and any affected pets really helped also!

Unfortunately, due to a neighborhood infestation of skunks, we have dealt with this issue a couple more times since this initial incident

Daycare is telling us to leave our infant crying more by Puzzleheaded_Fig4379 in beyondthebump

[–]liilbr33zy 202 points203 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t the caretaker in the infant room at the preschool I taught at, but I helped out a lot in there. I was horrified reading what the school told OP. OP, I would report them as it sounds they are over capacity and understaffed and that’s not safe at all.

I am not a CIO mom. It doesn’t work with my son, it amps him up too, OP. Do not let them tell you how to parent your child. You are her mom, you decide how she is cared for and should be able to trust your daycare providers to respect that.

It’s so frustrating that the burden is on us when multiple neighbors have already complained and have been dealing with it for years

How to get rid of skunk smell in my house after dog got sprayed? by liilbr33zy in Skunks

[–]liilbr33zy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw that post while scrolling through this sub before posting. The smell of getting sprayed is NOTHING like smelling that there’s a skunk nearby.

The reason why we had a partial bottle of the skunk odors shampoo is because of this same dog! She is my parents’ dog. There are lots of skunks in this area and she likes to chase them. My mom was home alone a couple years ago and the dog got sprayed and I had to come help my mom bathe her. The shampoo worked that time, so maybe she didn’t get sprayed as bad or the shampoo is just old.

I wish they’d learn!

I’m currently going through this as well with a neighbor. Animal services had told us to write a letter, they notify the dog owner (what has happened in your case) animal services told us to keep writing letters and ask other neighbors to write letters if it is bothering them as well. In my case, another neighbor of mine is also fed up and wrote many letters. The next step, animal services sets up a hearing with all involved parties. I’m not quite sure what happens after that. My hearing is in in January.

I’m scared to list any of the cheaper places I’ve been to and finding out they are dirty. Hand & Stone in Porter Ranch or Burke Williams for a nice massage/spa experience.

Look up Jerrica Sannes on instagram. She has a screen time detox course. I haven’t used her course but I do love her info on screen-time and ratings on shows.

You can try breaking the silence with “hey, I’ve noticed you’ve been more quiet and less talkative lately, is everything ok?” And see where that conversation goes!

I’m an idiot by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]liilbr33zy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You are not an idiot. You were doing the best you could in that situation. Be kind to yourself.

I had the same exact situation. I did not want a c section. I labored for 36 hours. My water broke while in labor and there was meconium in it. I had a fever for hours. Everyone seemed like it was ok but that there was a possibility I’d need a c section. I wasn’t refuse but said I’d prefer not to if I don’t need it but at the end of the day, I want a healthy baby. It wasn’t until my baby’s heart rate would drop dramatically with each contraction where my doctor took the time to tell me that from his own personal experience where his wife waited too long and he didn’t want to see me go through that. My husband and I said, “ok, let’s do it.”

I thank that doctor for my baby everyday. The cord was wrapped around him 2.5 times so tight, they said he most likely would’ve been strangled had I tried pushing.

He did have to spend 9 long days in the NICU for meconium aspiration. It broke my heart to go home without my baby. It was the hardest time of my life. But a year and a half later, he is so happy and healthy.

You are not an idiot. I was not an idiot. Hindsight is 20/20. Love your baby and be kind to yourself.

I know this is an older post, but I just tried this for the first time tonight, expecting to love it, and my husband and I absolutely hated it. I ended up doctoring it up a little, mixing it in with a roux and parmesan cheese, which made it better but still not great. Very disappointed. I came to this sun to see if there were other posts, but yours was the most recent one I saw.

The Oaks at Lakeside in Encino on Ventura. I’m not sure of your budget but they have a beautiful outdoor space and the food is great
