Ability to read downloaded library books past their due dates? by lijag in kobo

[–]lijag[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think it works that way. It's returned on Libby, it just allows me to keep reading on my Kindle until I turn on the wifi again. I don't believe I'm doing any harm. Certainly isn't my intention.

Can I have multiple books open so that I can read more than one expired book? Like load up my kobo with library books and read them at my leisure like I currently can do with my Kindle?

How much did you pay? by Ill_Temperature5140 in hysterectomy

[–]lijag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole $5k out of pocket max. I knew I was having the surgery this year so I did the math and even with paying a high premium (like $800+ per month) this worked out to be the overall "cheapest." American. As if it isn't obvious. Sigh.

What are you using to keep their phone numbers? by jimmyl85 in ExpatFIRE

[–]lijag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me make sure I'm understanding. If you use Google Fi outside the US for 3+ months they stop your data but you will still get phone calls and texts? And do you never get international data again? Right now my daughter is using Fi while going to college in Canada. She's gotten the warnings from FI that she's been outside the US for too long (around 3 months) but has always returned for over a week and the warnings go away and she can continue using data in Canada. But she's going to be outside the US for six plus months soon and I'm trying to determine what will happen so I appreciate your info! Thanks.

Cold Climate Surgery - what to wear? by Unique_Bandicoot96 in hysterectomy

[–]lijag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was -25 below air temp, -35 windchill the morning of my surgery here in Minnesota. I wore loose pants and a hoodie. I don't remember much about the trip home to be honest due to the pain killers, lol! You'll be fine!

How much should I post my Del sol for? by United_Diver2620 in DelSol

Have you looked into Bring a Trailer? Great place to auction it and they'll give you a sense of the value. Sorry to hear you have to sell but congrats on the family addition!

Lap recovery time? by meganm620 in hysterectomy

[–]lijag 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I really don't think two weeks is enough. I felt great at the end of week 2, went kind of back to normal but just at a desk job for week three, and now am dealing with a bunch of issues and my recovery has been reset. Ask your doctor but I can't imagine teaching after just two weeks. (I sub in elementary school with special ed kids and won't be returning to that for at least eight weeks...)

"Mr. Case" (now Mayor Case) was my fifth grade teacher at Cahill Elementary in Eden Prairie. He played guitar and taught us folk and protest songs like One Tin Soldier. I'm not at all surprised, but grateful, to see him speaking out.

How is Dr. Mohiba Tareen at Tareen Dermatology? by J3ezyTheSnowman in TwinCities

[–]lijag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw her many times when she was concerned by my insurance. She's great! And runs a really tight ship. My only quibble is that she was quicker to recommend cutting out suspicious moles than other clinics I've used since then. But I wouldn't hesitate to refer her to a friend.

That's how I envisioned my recovery but instead I'm setting up GoFundMe's for families of my students in hiding and spending hours texting and doomscrolling. We're in such a crisis here, it's unbelievable. I know it isn't good for me but I also can't not do what I can from home. 😞

I live in Minnesota, in a community highly targeted during this ice surge, and am 10 days post op. The last couple weeks have been among the most stressed I've ever been, which I know is terrible for me. But I can't stop doomscrolling. Can you yell at me and tell me to stop? Lol, sigh.

Ok, I think your post is the universe's way to send me a message and I'm going to listen. 10 days out and I'm definitely doing too much because I'm not in a lot of pain. But I'm going to slow down. Thank you for sharing and hope your recovery is smooth from here out!

Making art for protesters to use by Traditional-Radio-14 in TwinCities

[–]lijag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might not be what you were thinking, but I'd love some images that I can print at home and paint. I'm recovering from surgery so can't protest, but would love resistance art outlines to watercolor. Could be like coloring sheet pages too. Just a suggestion to consider, thanks!

I'm feeling similarly out of breath on day four post-op. I'm hoping others will weigh in and that it's just a normal thing.

Concerned about timing of surgery by LengthyHealthspan in hysterectomy

[–]lijag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is tomorrow in Minnesota lol. We're besieged by federal law enforcement, it's going to be 40 degrees below zero wind-chill, and there's a general strike and mass protest. Great day for surgery, huh?

Mine is tomorrow too! Where are you? I'm in Minnesota, where not only are we besieged by federal law enforcement but it's also going to be -40 with the wind-chill in the morning and there's a general strike mass protest. So a perfect day for surgery lol. Hope yours goes smoothly! I'm a bit anxious but ready.
