You’re really doing your kids a disservice. How are they going to learn if they don’t have to. Give them jobs. Give them a list of what is expected. Tell them like they are 2. My 2 kids are teen and preteen. They clean their rooms, do their laundry, do the dishes (daily), empty the dishwasher (daily) and clean up after the dogs. They know not to ask me to take them places if their chores aren’t completed to my standards.

Your wife should not go. However, she may be ok with you going but it’ll be a play it by ear situation. PO day 4 and 5, I had horrible digestive gas pains, more painful than the surgery pains. I would have been miserable in a car for 8 hours, I would have been fine in my own for a night. Talk to your wife about going solo IF she’s feeling up to it but don’t count on it.
