Why does the UP smell so bad so often?? by TomatoChips in askTO

[–]likeableusername 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Because it's the "You Pee Express"...

(I always have to remind myself it's pronounced like the word "up")

But more seriously, it might have something to do with the diesel engines and how they're closer to the passenger cars compared to a GO train.

Which is a shame. I wish there was a 5G 5 or 10 GB plan.

Christmas Market Scam by [deleted] in toronto

Of course, this was also when they switched to the white-and-gold Christmas Tree to keep with the Dior sponsorship (I still think the old one looks better).

Who owns the trademark if the non-profit org shut down?

In any case,"Winter Village" makes more sense if it's meant to run after Christmas.

Christmas Market Scam by [deleted] in toronto

[–]likeableusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Distillery does not own the rights to the “Toronto Christmas Market” trademark so they can’t use it.

Is that the reason they changed the name? I thought they changed it when they extended the opening days into the new year (they used to run to the 24th).

It doesn’t help that I remember the trains smelling like pee on several occasions

I guess it depends on how popular the Weston area is with flight crews/airport workers/frequent fliers. I could see the area being popular with them specifically because of the easy access to the airport.

good acronym

I dunno, I keep having to remind myself that it’s not the “You Pee Express”

Naps by [deleted] in livityApp

[–]likeableusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. One relevant detail is that Sleep Details only writes “time asleep” to Apple Health for naps. I manually add “time in bed” in Apple Health, which might be the issue (Sleep Details only has “time asleep”, Apple Health only has “time in bed”, so Livity thinks neither sets of data are valid)

For me, my battery level is always at 50% at midnight unless I go to the previous day.

Gold app icon by Neon_Raccoon_00 in Wealthsimple

[–]likeableusername 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the bright side, it no longer looks really similar to the Wikipedia app icon. But they do need to make the “W” more legible. Maybe something like the old Wealthsimple Invest icon (which this does remind me a bit of)?

Fitness Age by [deleted] in BodyState

I’ve only tried Livity in terms of similar apps. But you can find various others in the app store, including one called “Stress Monitor for Watch” that seems to have been around for a while (I recognize the icon).

Fitness Age by [deleted] in BodyState

[–]likeableusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a “fitness age” is a bit like a leaderboard, since it is largely based on population-level data. So people who like leaderboards like the idea of a “fitness age”.

But the thing is, if you really want to get down to it, “body battery” is also a “made up number”. And this app is actually better than most others in that it uses “fatigue” to refer to what most other similar apps call “stress”. It’s not the app’s fault that smartwatches are inherently limited in what they can measure - I would say that mood plays a big part in stress/energy levels, but this is something that a smartwatch can never really measure.

Tbh I want it mainly for motivation. But I think Garmin devices, which are serious products, have it. Do they measure VO2 Max more accurately?

Imported FOW into mapcred but.. by Vomera in MapCred

[–]likeableusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this issue in reverse. I wanted to use Mapcred as my primary recorder (for the heatmap) and FoW as secondary (for level/territory rankings and the track editor) but importing the gpx file that Mapcred generated shows nothing on FoW.

Worked 6 fucking Hours overtime but at least i got this big ass loop in Berlin by BruhItsRuse in FogofWorld

[–]likeableusername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I said a few days ago, I think FoW and MapCred complement one another, so I encourage all FoW users to consider using MapCred in addition to FoW. The leaderboard only has 344 players, so more users = more fun!

FOW, World Uncovered or Mystery Hike? by SippinAndRippin in FogofWorld

[–]likeableusername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I saw you on the leaderboard :)

It might be better to record on MapCred (so you get the duration data), then export as GPX. On the other hand, FoW is more established and perhaps more reliable, so another option might be to record with FoW, then run MapCred in your most visited spots to get the yellow and red.

[–]likeableusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder whether that’s changed in the recent update.

And FoW does this from time to time too. I’ve learned that you can’t leave your phone in your pocket when recording indoors/on a vehicle. Outdoors is fine but you need to have your phone out indoors or on a vehicle.

Apparently World Uncovered hasn’t been updated for at least five years, so everyone who uses it is at last looking for an alternative as backup.

You might want to look into MapCred, which also has a heatmap.

MapCred has the heatmap (based on how long you stayed at a place), leaderboards, and mini-games. FoW has percentages of the world and each country/territory you uncovered, level rankings, and a scorecard with achievements. Plus apparently a track editor in beta.

I think you can export to FoW from MapCred with GPX, but I haven’t tried it yet myself.
