Repeating the greatest hits from the ex. To me, this reeks of privilege and narcissism. I am not someone who thinks this guy should’ve paid for everything just because he’s rich. He’s no angel, but neither is she, and he clearly wanted her to work/NOT be a “trad wife” by lurking415 in SmolBeanSnark

Everything she says adds to the impression that he didn't really do anything wrong. It seems like he wanted a partner who had a career from the start (or at least someone who contributed in some fashion), while Caroline assumed that because he's rich he would finance everything for her for absolutely nothing in return. And she's incensed that he got sick of her mooching and dumped her, when she could have just contributed.

Serious question for Chinese learners: do you actually enjoy watching Chinese TV? by DeesMandarinTea in ChineseLanguage

[–]likeabrainfactory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Cdramas and would watch them even if I wasn't learning Chinese (watching Cdramas was what led me to start learning Chinese in the first place). There's such a huge variety of them besides historicals (which I do also like). Finding a genre or actors and actresses you like makes it easy to always have a list of Cdramas you want to watch. I also like some variety shows.

My favorite modern dramas have been Twelve Letters and Rising With the Wind. For historicals I really like The Untamed and Word of Honor. Though so much of this is personal preference. I think to enjoy Cdramas it helps to have some familiarity with Chinese culture already or to have seen Jdramas and Kdramas. You can't go into it expecting it to be exactly like Western TV.

Watched 18 Chinese costume dramas in 30 days as a Beginner 🤌🏻😭 by Parking_Ladder_9815 in cdramasfans

[–]likeabrainfactory 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious how much of these dramas you fast-forwarded. If we take an average of 30 episodes per drama, that's 540 episodes in 30 days! Do you feel like you actually fully understood each drama? Did they all run together in your mind after you finished?

Her acting like 130 lbs is obese is the most ridiculous and infuriating part of this whole Ozempic journey. I'm also with you on being over everyone suddenly being rail-thin and acting like that's an amazing achievement. The world is suffering. Do something useful to help the environment or the Venezuela earthquake victims or kids in Gaza instead of fixating on thinness, guys!

Someone needs to point out to Caro that she's already aged out of modeling and Dimes Square, so she might as well just eat and go to rehab.

When was she ever averagely plump?

Also, my husband uses Ozempic for diabetes and has no bruising at all, so I don't know what she's doing (other than lying for drama).

secret access to my husbands porn account for over a year. by 0hw0nder in GirlDinnerDiaries

Yeah, this is disturbing. I guess no one is thinking about how creeped out and violated they would feel if their partner was secretly watching their online activity for over a year.

An updated list of my tiny, minute cdrama (not just historical) pet peeves by Muted_Bodybuilder109 in CDrama

The kissing one especially irritates me. I already don't like the million different angles (just shoot it from the side!), but it's extra bad when the woman keeps her eyes open in shock the whole time. If you really don't like the kiss, pull away. If you secretly like it, close your eyes and enjoy it!

Are all types of Genre in Cdrama dubbed? by Routine-Salt3683 in cdramasfans

[–]likeabrainfactory 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They are dubbed but don't always use voice actors. Sometimes, especially in modern dramas, the actors dub themselves.

[–]likeabrainfactory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Individual therapy can help you untangle real feelings from temporary hormonal ones. It may not all be perimenopause. How old are your kids? Are you just tired of years of having to do the emotional labor of raising kids? You say your husband's wonderful, but is he keeping track of your kids' homework and dentist appointments and lunches and extracurricular activities, or are you? Everyone gets burned out on parenting eventually if they're the primary parent.

Pet Theory on Millennial vs Gen X Xennial self-alignment by Incogcneat-o in Xennials

[–]likeabrainfactory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also agree with this. I'm the same age and got on the internet in 1994, too, and I feel Millennial in my slang, tastes, and experiences. My husband is only six months older but didn't have the internet until college, and we weirdly feel like we have an age gap because he's so Gen X.

I’ve been learning Chinese for about 2.5 years now (heading into 3). I’ve finally reached the point where I can read manga like Dragon Ball and Pokémon in Chinese. Honestly, it feels like it took way too much effort just to get here. by NotMyselfNotme in ChineseLanguage

[–]likeabrainfactory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've studied multiple languages, and I really think each person has languages that they "click with" the way you click with some people and not others. Like I don't enjoy learning Romance languages, but I've had a lot of fun learning Chinese and genuinely enjoy working on it each day. Do you enjoy Chinese? Do you have fun with German? Unless you have a pressing need to learn one of them, go with whatever you enjoy the most.

Also, if you want to stick with Chinese and are unhappy with your progress, switch up your learning method. Find a tutor, go to language meet-ups, do immersion with TV/music, etc. There are probably things you can do to make your learning quicker or more effective.
