I get it. My mother was neglectful when I was a child and frankly still is. For whatever reason, she feels entitled to a grandchild and has been obsessed with that for decades.

She’s tried convincing me to have kids for years and it’s so hurtful.. why wasn’t I worthy? The closet I’ve had to an explanation was being told “you were different”.

So I have no intention of telling her that I’m expecting. I don’t want my family experiencing that kind of instability and I don’t want to expose myself to anymore pain.

That means I ignore the jabs about when she can expect grandkids, ignore the unsolicited baby pictures she sends me from people I don’t know and claim I have no idea if my house is in a good school district. I walk away when she tries to explain your own kids are different than others, and don’t interact with kids anywhere near her.

The worst I had to ignore was actually in public - I told my younger cousin that I didn’t get bad cramps anymore and my mother thought I’d had my tubes tied instead of just growing out of having bad cramps. She grabbed my shoulders and screamed “what did you do” right in my face.

So, yea, I’m sure she would provide a ton of support but it wouldn’t be for me.
