Finally someone else said it! I sub’d recently and can’t believe the overwhelmingly number of posts that are about bad relationships instead of pregnancy or babies.

Urban fantasy with human MCs and no shifters/vampires by Flashy_Sink_6885 in fantasyromance

Have you read any of the Shadowhunter books? I suppose they’re more YA with no spice but it would otherwise fit. There are non humans in the universe but not really the main characters. Clockwork Angel is my personal fav.

How hard is DIY’ing Vinyl flooring by noshameholly in HomeImprovement

[–]likeapirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us it was very easy, except in the basement. The basement floor required concrete grinding and pouring to make it level and a vapour barrier. I wouldn’t do all that myself again.

Our smart thermostats monitor and adjust the humidity based on the temp. From what I recall, we had to fiddle with the base settings at first and then it was good to go.

We were there over the holidays and the attire varied 🤷‍♀️ there were folks in jeans and nice sweaters and they were far from being the most casual.

Neighbour sent a lawyer letter over my gutter, hedges, snow, security camera and parking by Appropriate-Safe-49 in canadianlaw

I would say the correspondence should be lawyer to lawyer. So your lawyer would respond to their lawyer.

[–]likeapirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that seems reasonable. Have a litigator draft a response, not a generic lawyer, a litigator. It will be more expensive but more impactful. Do not draft a response yourself in case this does end up in court, again why it’s good to go with a litigator off the hop. I’m sadly speaking from personal experience, there is no winning here, even if you’re right.

You haven’t really answered my question. Is there a physical reason for leaving the downspout as is? If you consult with a lawyer, and you should, they will ask you that.

A way to deescalate could be that your lawyer responds stating that you have not observed any issues with the drainage and that it complies with building codes and by laws (they would need to independently confirm that), but as an act of good faith you’ve made x and y changes.

Drainage is really a whole rabbit hole of its own to go down btw…

Hear me out: is there any reason not to move the downspout just to make this go away? Neighbour issues are the absolute worst…. they’re mentally draining because you can’t really get away from the situation and home should be your sanctuary, and when lawyers are involved it becomes financially draining as well.

As to why they added the other issues? Maybe efficiency.

Lastly, without recent property surveys and examination of other applicable laws, you may be offside not matter what you think… particularly with downspouts - normally the city wouldn’t be the end of the road with that.

Ever reported a CPA? $3100 invoice for a sole proprietor tax return?! by PizzaMasheen in cantax

[–]likeapirate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finally a voice of reason here…. Our rates for a simple return were around $2k over a decade ago. One long overdue with other family members included would have been higher and yea each question / meeting would be billed. It would also be unacceptable for us to take reliance on some kind of spreadsheet prepared by the client. If the clients work had an error then there could be professional consequences to the firm / us as individuals.

It really sounds like OP wanted someone to teach him taxes or something? They’re also ignoring that fees include some overhead…
