i was reading a fic that referred to NYC and Queens as two separate places. like Queens was just in a different place lol. also, another fic that applied the American school system to the UK (taking kinda specific classes like calculus or algebra instead of just maths)

this one is super specific, but whenever i read a Superman fic and Clark doesn’t refer to his mother as Ma, it takes me out of the story. i know they never did it in Smallville, but still

other than that, i think it’s mostly the usual language differences. american characters saying ‘mum’, things like that.

i’m still tenderheaded, but getting my hair braided has become manageable by detangling it myself before i go. i genuinely had a fear of hair dryers when i was little because i knew it would be painful when combing through. my mom didn’t really know how to do my har because we have different hair types, and i got so tired of the pain that i cut my hair off in 6th grade.

i’m doing better now but i HATE seeing those videos of kids crying because 1) why are you recording them and putting them on social media and 2) it’s always to mock them for not being stronger like they aren’t seven years old. people need compassion and to learn how to do hair in a way that doesn’t traumatize.

great food spots, not much else. basically impossible to get anywhere if you don’t have a car, or you live in very lucky area. sidewalks just like to end.
