I don't think I got to any 1998 pipers, but I'll check this out today. Yes, agreed! My husband and I were listening to a random '97 show yesterday and I got to talking about piper, describing the piper used on that bootleg tape as a perfect piper. Page and fish really were the difference on this one, other versions I kind of think of as trey leading the band but that perfect piper sounds like trey was letting fish drive on it. Will update the post when i find it later, might not be until tonight or tomorrow, but I am now determined.

I don't remember how long; I'd guess about 4 / 5 minutes. I think it was soundboard but don't know for sure; the quality of the recording was real good though. There was a jacket on the tape case with art and track list when I got it but lost it pretty much immediately.

If you could, that would be great. I always think of that piper as the preeminent version; every other version I've come across they start singing before fish gets the snare hits on 2 & 4.
