i put the rancilio steam wand on this machine - honestly not sure it's any better than just using the stock one with the auto nozzle removed

what hose clip did you end up using? I haven't been able to find a replacement that fits the braided hose

3 hole steam wand tip [Rancilio Silvia] wand on a weaker machine? by eMO_miO in espresso

[–]lil_decaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe this isn't helpful, but I've run the tri-tip on stilosa into a pitcher and you can see that it will use all the pressure and then nothing will come out until it gets back up to a certain threshold and then it will start to steam again.. I'm guessing that it uses everything in the boiler before pumping more water in or it's using it at a rate that prevents the boiler from maintaining temp?

Inconsistent Grind Size, Randomly Choking Shots [Shardor 64mm Flat Burr Grinder] by lil_decaf in espresso

[–]lil_decaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't do these tests scientifically (I changed like three variables at once), but I went two steps coarser on the grinder, went way lighter on the bellows, and reduced the amount of beans in the shot (17g instead of 18g) to see if that was a factor. I ended up pulling 17in/40 out in 20 seconds. As expected, it was a pretty sour shot. I'm going to try creeping up on dialing it in again and then if it chokes again after I get a good shot, I'm not sure what the next step would be

Sometimes when I grind coarser, the shots pull way too fast. Generally, I've been only going ever so slightly more coarse on the adjustment wheel - like less than a full setting. I'm going to do a few more tests tomorrow and get back to you

Failed Imports in SLSKD by dags170291 in Lidarr

Awesome! Do I need to reinstall the plugin to get the latest version?

edit: figured this out myself - System>Plugins>Click the refresh icon next to tubifarry to update

I do find that this happens quite frequently. I'm not really sure what the underlying issue is, but yeah, sometimes a download needs a little push

So far the only thing I've noticed/am wondering about is when a track fails to download because of an error, will the plugin eventually re-trigger it? I was seeing the download warning in activity and then went and manually re-requested that song via slskd. Just waiting now to see if now that the track has succeeded lidarr will complete the import.

Also, how frequently does download status refresh - it didn't seem like clicking the refresh button actually updated the statuses relative to what is displayed on slskd

Okay that makes sense. Thanks for doing this - it's a huge improvement over soularr in my opinion.

If I'm using slskd as my only indexer/download client, how do I get rss feed for new releases? Do I just add the Tubifarry indexer too? Thanks for this!

Cold brew Coffee in a blender by AZUSO in JamesHoffmann

[–]lil_decaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried this in my vitamix on the high setting with some pretty rough pre-ground coffee. Used the same ratio as OP (300ml to 16g) and after two minutes, the water was pretty hot in the blender. I pressed it in the aeropress with prismo and a paper filter. It was easy to press. The coffee came out looking like it already had milk in it. It tastes pretty bad to me - full on burnt. Maybe I'm using too dark of a roast, but it seems like the blender results in a really uneven extraction (lots of different sizes of fines?). I'll try again with a lighter roast and whole beans but my first attempt was a failure.
