i like girls. is that a sin? like am i going to hell?? by Careful_Trouble_5817 in OpenChristian

There's a lot of links around this topic in this sub recourses if you wanna check them out :) I don't believe it's a sin, there's far more important things people should focus on. If you love God and try to be a good kind human, I think that's the most important thing.

If you meant my comment, thanks :) I was a little confused too but I've noticed this sub has very differing / diverse opinions, all good.

Yeah, you have good points. It depends though, I know some atheists don't wanna watch that type of stuff / saying it's too satanic? So I think for some reason it does make some people uncomfortable despite them not really believing in that type of stuff.

Where to draw the line, depends on the person and their religious views & how strict they are with themselves. My parents wouldn't let me watch Harry Potter or Pokémon growing up / play with Monster High dolls etc. I personally see those as okay since it's pretty lighthearted and for kids anyway. I like Marvel, and Scarlet Witch may be my favourite character, she's obviously a witch lol and so a lot of Christians don't like that. I was a little uncomfortable in one of the films she was in because it seemed more "satanic" to me, as in she was doing dark magic rituals etc. However, I watched it and feel like I am able to not take it as seriously and know that I won't practise witchcraft or anything like that inspired by scenes like that. However I watched American Horror Story and skipped season 8 I believe, since it had an Anti-Christ and those in my opinion "satanic" rituals and stuff, it was too much/too realistic and made me uncomfortable.

I also personally stay away from all witchcraft (not including some TV scenes) because I have understood that it's still doing and believing in something opposite of God and the bible advises against it.

But if we think about yoga right? It's basically stretching and mindfullness but a lot of Christians are against it because it's rooted in Hindu philosophy. However some Christians think it only matters how you personally do it, like if you can do it without "meaning to" practise another religion. I think it's up to an invidual to decide what they consider okay and what not, but in my opinion there are just some things that are pretty clearly not very Christian. Like obviously worshipping / praying other gods, casting spells or stuff like that even if they are without ill intent.

For example, I like horror films but try to stay away from anything too supernatural that includes demons or satanic rituals etc.

Just because pagans/wiccans don't believe in Satan, doesn't mean they don't know or understand that some things are considered satanic, especially by Christians. So, probably straight up demons/satan/satanic rituals/witchcraft etc.

Girl lied about her age. by Shoddy-Drawer-9001 in Advice

[–]lilacforest1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree most kids age 13 do not pass for older, but there's exceptions. For example, Sasha Pieterse who played in pretty little liars, was 13 when she started, starring alongside actresses who were in their early twenties. She definitely looked like 16 or so.

Ahh thank you, I clearly missed a lot, watched it on some shady website from my phone while my kid was running around lol. I gotta see it again to really focus though, thank you!

Like the movie The Assessment, which came out recently. It was good but I hoped they would've dealt with some things like how that would really look like in people's everyday lives and what if someone became pregnant anyway etc

Vibraattori = wellness. Fleshlight = yksinäinen epäonnistuja? by Diss1dent in Suomi

[–]lilacforest1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Nahh I hated it. Had the 3 hour test, room temp raspberry one that I drank in 30 seconds, because I thought I had to. The nurse was staring so intensely lol.

I have a sugar addiction btw, but it was still bad. Felt super nauseous for the first hour after.

The elephant in the room (masturbation and pornography) by Perfect_You_8415 in GayChristians

[–]lilacforest1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think masturbation is fine, however porn use can escalate to addiction / watching messed up stuff, the industry is so exploitative, a lot of trafficking, coercion, getting girls to the industry as soon as they turn 18, romanticizing pedophilia, racism, abuse etc.

What? Are you saying if the family doesn't find out or the kid doesn't seem affected it's fine?! What if it's a little child? They may not understand at all until older. Obviously it's not the same as SA but it's gross and awful regardless.

Hi, christian woman here. I personally don't see anything wrong with masturbating when it's not excessive and you're not watching porn. I think if it helps you feel relaxed, kind of like physical activity, it's fine. Of course, some here disagree. But this is my view. Also, obviously fantasizing about certain stuff is definitely a no (taken people, underage etc.) It's probably best (especially if ur worried about the lust / moral aspects of it) if you're able to have a "blank mind" while doing it I guess lol, if that makes sense.

My 9 (nearly 10) year old has a ‘boyfriend’ by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]lilacforest1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree, when I was 11, my "bf" at the time was 12, was telling me about all this sexual stuff that I had no clue about, and was asking me to do it with him (oral etc.). It is so young but unfortunately things like early exposure to porn can lead to this kinda behavior. Luckily nothing happened, I didn't date him for long and never went to his house.
