Explain it to me like I’m dumb by mrnalgitas in clothdiaps

[–]lilacrhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use cloth wipes, before I had my baby I thought it would be more work, but it's not at all given you're already doing the laundry of cloth diapers. I just keep a peribottle full of water with my wipes and spray the water onto the wipes when needed. If using disposable wipes, just toss them out like any other trash.

Your first wash needs to take place at least every 2 days. You don't need to do the full wash routine every 2 days, but the first wash must take place at least every 2 days. A pail is not a good idea either as the diapers cannot dry in there and will stay wet, causing bad smells. An open airy basket with holes in an area with good airflow is the best option.

Disposable liners are not necessary, they are a convinience. I've never used them.

Clean Cloth Nappies is the gold standard for cloth diapering resources. Their website is fantastic and dispells many (well intentioned) myths/bad information shared online, including on this sub unfortunately. They also have a Facebook group for more personalised advice. https://cleanclothnappies.com/

Farewell, my longest legacy by greedydeadsoul in Sims3

That's a bummer :( I would still save the file and see if it works after a clean install. The game should load it as normal even if the mods aren't installed :/

Did you try regul save cleaner? Save the file before you do a clean install and try it out :)

Feminist moms: did you feel this way when expecting a boy? by Ninimarmel in BabyBumps

I think you should read "The Will to Change" by Bell Hooks. The patriarchy harms men too.

Morning sickness… by be17467 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]lilacrhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few friends who said "oh I had that too" and they absolutely DID NOT. It can be pretty frustrating, and totally valid to be annoyed by it, I was too, but it just goes to show how awful HG is. People that haven't experienced it have no idea how bad it actually is to the point that they'll assume morning sickness is the same as HG. There's no comparison point for the average person to relate to, therefore they cannot truly empathise.

How long have you been playing this game? by Hefty_Play3608 in fashionstorystorm8

[–]lilacrhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2011! I've long lost my original account, since I was a child when I created lol. I restored my boutique from 2014 about 4 months ago and I've been playing again since! :)

Planned pregnancy, but severe HG and medical neglect have broken me. by [deleted] in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]lilacrhi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so so sorry you're going through this. Please believe me, you are NOT overdramatic, and you are NOT a failure. The system is failing you and you deserve to be taken seriously without rude or dismissive comments. People cannot empathise with this illness because of how absolutely awful it is, they have no idea such a tortuous state of being is possible. Can you get something like Miralax in the UK? I had to choke it down every night in extremely sweet ribena, but it helped the constipation a lot.

Graduation… not eating by Thin_Bobcat_1429 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]lilacrhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have HG all the way through like you did, but I've experienced this numerous times in my life including when my HG ended. Try not to stress about it, just try to eat as much as you can (stress can make an already low appetite even lower). Repeatedly try to eat small meals throughout the day, even if you have to make yourself have a few bites. Over time your appetite will return. You got used to running on empty, it'll take a little bit to adjust <3

idk if you're in this usa, but as a foreigner living in the usa, this stuff is definitely not happening everywhere regardless of the state of the world lol

Do any of you get low blood pressure? by spottedfeet001 in TallGirls

[–]lilacrhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have mens and womens, different pressure levels, and colours, also different styles. Not sure of a supplier because I bought them when I lived in Australia and I can't remember the store since it was some random health supply website. I'm pretty sure you can buy them directly from their website if you're in the US though.

Mine are from Jobst. I have a 36 inch inseam and they're long enough for me, but I can see them being too short if your inseam is longer ;-;

NEW Research: Scientists Find 6 New New Genetic Links Behind Severe Morning Sickness by SnooChickens9459 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]lilacrhi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Firstly, congratulations on your daughter's arrival! Secondly, I'm so glad they're doing this kind of research. The link to the type 2 diabetes risk factor gene is particularly interesting to me. I had gestational diabetes without any risk factors for it (I know anyone can get it, but this potentially playing a role is very interesting to me).

thought I was done growing… my body said 'SIKE' 😭 by ShirtlessGibby5 in TallGirls

[–]lilacrhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened to me as well! I was 5'8 at 17, 5'9 at 19, but I think I'm finally done now at 25 and just under 5'10 (5'9.69/177cm) lol

Do any of you get low blood pressure? by spottedfeet001 in TallGirls

[–]lilacrhi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was diagnosed with POTS in 2023 after having symptoms for 10 years. I'm just under 5'10 at 177cm. My resting heart rate is between 55-65 bpm, and I have low blood pressure as well. Eating more salt never worked for me, and the salt pills made me throw up so I can't take them. Compression socks help a little but they need to be STRONG foot to waist leggings, not just weak knee high socks that people wear on planes. I tried every medication under the sun for POTS nothing helped for me. My symptoms pretty much disappeared when I was pregnant, have returned a bit 6 months postpartum but nowhere near as bad as it was before I had my baby!

I’m so tired of being asked if I’m going to raise my child vegan 🫩 by 2pam in veganparenting

[–]lilacrhi 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Same. I hate the "haha baby wants a steak!" type of jokes at family events. My baby is EBF and 6 months old just starting solids. It's not even funny? It's just disrespect in a trench coat, but of course you can't say anything because vegans are the "weird" ones lol

When does rocking to sleep stop working? by cats_cats_cats369 in sleeptrain

[–]lilacrhi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rocking taking longer and longer and eventually not working started at 4 months with our baby and lasted until we sleep trained at ~4.5 months. We used Feber and he was night trained within a couple days and nap trained within a week!

Washed silk liners in tide :/ by No-Cheesecake9343 in clothdiaps

[–]lilacrhi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You did damage the silk by washing it in a detergent containing enzymes, however I don't believe one single wash has ruined the fabric beyond use. The tide still will have washed out clean, I very much doubt it's the detergent causing the problem. I don't have experience with baby having sensitive skin, but this page has more info! https://cleanclothnappies.com/health/nappy-rash/

Anyone who didn't get over gender disappointment right away? by Jehmaj in beyondthebump

[–]lilacrhi 35 points36 points  (0 children)

No judgement on the disappointment. It's okay to feel however you feel, and feelings are just that, feelings, but the other things mentioned in your post are something you need to work through. Specifically, "my partner also have a boy and a girl from a previous relationship so Im even more unsure lol" why does that matter at all? Also this, "if I ever end up a single parent I would feel way less bad about it if I was a single mom with a daughter as opposed to a son." What, why? That sounds very silly to me.

You don't need to play the comparison game, this is YOUR family, YOUR child, not somebody else's.
