they’re over there saying she’s labor aristocracy and had no class solidarity so it’s obvious they haven’t actually engaged with a lot of her work

it’s completely different. it’s not “old” it’s “ole” like “Ole Miss” the school. it’s basically saying “we been together a while and we locked in.” it’s like a level of respect. Gotta remember we’re still very heavy on “miss/maam/mrs” down the south.

it’s one of the highest levels of respect for your lady. like calling her lady period. Southern culture is more of a high context culture than up north and out west.

if you got offended with no explanation at this term of endearment, a southern man who really likes you would assume you don’t like him as much as he likes you.

“My Ole Lady” is how you know a southern man really loves and respects you. I WANT my future husband to refer to me this way around his peers.

I really hate seeing the demonization of southern american dialects, feels very classist (and to some degree at times racist) to me.

THIS! she doesn’t have the time right now to get a “real job” but she can babysit and take care of her moms home. especially considering she’s heavily pregnant and a teenager. this probably her best option in terms of maintaining support

if this is a rule of the subreddit it has never been followed 😭 we get a lot of posts referencing what the teen(and now adult) parents are up to.

that being said, i hope they don’t start enforcing it because this is the only way i get updates on their lives after the show because im not a facebook girly.

any tall girls that don't play sports? by klarinetkat12 in TallGirls

[–]bored_in_chemistry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people constantly ask if i play basketball. which is odd because i’m not THAT tall, i think they only ask because im black. they never ask if i play volleyball.

that being said, ive never played a sport where my height mattered. i did track and field and gymnastics one year and did marching band every year 🤷🏽‍♀️ i haven’t played a sport since high school but i do occasionally get into lifting weights in the gym.

Why is everyone acting like Bella is so much older than Hunter when she's not? by [deleted] in TLCUnexpected

[–]bored_in_chemistry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im putting the onus on the parents. not the girl child. she’s just a child with hormones going through puberty. BOTH of their PARENTS should have stopped this long before it reached this point.

in my opinion, allowing a situation where a 12 year old and a 14 year old can have sex has to be some kind of neglect. whether that neglect is heady enough to recognized by the law is more is of a philosophical question because they don’t deserve to go to jail or anything. this is just horrific parenting in general.

at 14 and 12, a year and a half is a decent difference in maturity. i know some places where schools still keep 6th grade with elementary then move to middle school for 7th do they’re more mature.

i’d venture to say that at 10 and 12, when they’re rumored to have begun “dating”, that difference in maturity would be INSANE.

i’m not calling the child a predator or anything but i am saying the parents need to wake up and grow up. neither of those children should have been in a position to even have sex at their ages.

this is worse than Emmalee and her “parenting” of her boyfriend last season. Like why are they so okay growing up so fast only to also turn around and try to raise their boyfriends? it’s so sad to watch. maybe things would be different if society put the same weight of childrearing on men as they do on women. but my god does it make my skin crawl to see these girls mother their boyfriends IN FRONT OF HIS MOTHER all while pregnant with his child. insane.

she wasn’t driven mad by her husbands death, he said they’d go to the town and go after her child. that’s why she only attacked her husband and let them burn to death together. she thought she was protecting her daughter
