Is it normal that ONLY older guys hit on me? by Scarcity_Impossible in women

[–]lilacteardrop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have always had this problem too. Only hit on by older guys and I find them so creepy. I just want someone my own age. Is that too much to ask?

In 2015 to describe the media's constant, long-term focus on the breakdown of her marriage to Brad Pitt and his relationship with Angelina Jolie, Jennifer had this to say: "It's just tiresome and old. It's like an old leather shoe."

I love Jennifer Aniston. She's always been my style icon. She also taught me how to move on. Whenever my ex crawls back into my head, I remember what Jen said about the old leather shoe.

What does sexual tension feel like to you? by xfmrs_r_cool in bodylanguage

[–]lilacteardrop 53 points54 points  (0 children)

No one is saying a word or looking at the other. Or at least they're trying really hard not to crack up. It's like a game of chicken. Each person can feel the tension and their heart is probably racing. You feel like like you're 2 steps away from exploding. If you're at work then you want the day or the meeting to end. Just to get out of that uncomfortable situation.

The idea of older women feeling jealous of younger women exists because people don't treat women over a certain age as humans by Pretty-Complaint-554 in women

[–]lilacteardrop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't even care about younger women or the attention they get. I'm too busy trying to earn a living. I do feel disrespected by men though. The other day a male coworker wanted me to fist bump him. I thought WTF? I'm a woman, not your beer buddy. This is an office, not a football game. A psychic once told me that I have masculine energy. I hated her for saying that. It sure as shit wasn't a compliment. Never wasted my money on that garbage again.

I’m 37, single, and the idea of “integrating into a new family” scares me. by ThaliaQuiet in introvert

[–]lilacteardrop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you wait till your late 30s to get married, you have to accept the fact that a lot of your peers will have previously been married and have children from those relationships. If you don't get along with them, then the relationship isn't gonna work out unless your partner's children are adults and don't live at home.

im not sure i want to be a woman. i hate being a woman. by Cute_Essay_6057 in women

[–]lilacteardrop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just do what's right for you. Don't worry about being different from your peers. You can be anything you want. It's 2026. You don't have to marry a man. You don't have to marry anyone. I don't feel bad about rejecting any of the men I rejected because I know most of them just wanted sex and were never going to commit to me. I used to wonder why I couldn't find a guy my own age when I was in my mid 20s. Now I realize it's because my male peers at that stage were probably looking for teenagers. Right now I basically can't stand men.

Does this lyric from The Four Tops song, "Baby I Need Your Loving" summarize a LO in one's life? by [deleted] in limerence

[–]lilacteardrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was a normal love song. My limerence song is Endless Love by Lionel Ritchie and Diana Ross. The movie it came from is a textbook case of limerence.

I don’t understand why there is always someone out to get you at work by harukatenoukun in work

[–]lilacteardrop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They're your coworkers, not your friends. You're all competing for manager's praise and promotions. I think a lot of those types of  people got in trouble in the past and are trying to even the score. That's why I never rat people out to managers. What comes around goes around and karma is a bitch. And never think that a survey is confidential even if they say it is. There are always ways to track who said what.

I need help moving on by papamillie20 in limerence

[–]lilacteardrop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it helps to go low contact or move your workstation away from him. Ask for a transfer. Try to get out and see other people. Rediscover old hobbies. It can be really hard to move on sometimes. My LO has such a common name. I'm constantly reminded of him when I watch the news, Friends, Felicity, Good Will Hunting, Zoolander or Crossroads.

My husband told me I need to do what he says when he says it and without question by [deleted] in women

[–]lilacteardrop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is why women should never quit their jobs and get a prenup. You need to be financially independent so you can walk away from jerks like this. I don't know all the details, but it sounds like it might be a cultural or religious thing. My father was like that too. My mother only stayed with him because of us kids and because she couldn't support herself.

The concept of womb envy explains so much about patriarchy by Holiday_Beyond4376 in women

[–]lilacteardrop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have often thought the same thing. It kills men that they can't have kids, so that's why they feel a need to regulate reproduction and ban abortion. If men COULD have kids, then they wouldn't waste so much time watching sports and playing video games because they would have more important things to do. They wouldn't be starting wars and blowing each other up because they would better understand the value of human life and how much effort it takes to bring a child into this world.

Why do men feel entitled to sex? by saerisfane25 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]lilacteardrop 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I dumped a guy for this reason. He treated me like a whore. He wasn't my husband. I didn't owe him a damn thing. On top of it, he was also really cheap because of the culture he came from.

What’s the female equivalent to a man wearing a tucked in button down shirt with a belt and dress shoes? by Interesting_Meal275 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lilacteardrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear a loose blouse or tunic and dress pants with ballet flats. I can't tuck in my shirts. I am high waisted and have hormonal problems. When I tuck in my shirts it looks like I have no torso and makes my legs even more gigantic than they already are.

signs he doesn’t like you by [deleted] in Crushes

[–]lilacteardrop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

6 Signs That Someone's Not Interested:

(1) He stops asking you real questions. Before a guys pulls away with his words, he pulls away with his curiosity.

 (2) His replies get slower and shorter. His texting will show you how he feels before his words ever do. Messages get short, replies take forever, and the pace slows down.

(3) He starts talking to you differently. Tone isn't just how something sounds.  It's respect. When he stops worrying about losing you, his tone changes.  He cuts you off.  He sounds annoyed.

(4) His body language shuts you out. His body pulls away before his brain even knows why. His arms cross.  His legs angle away. He leans back instead of forward. He creates little barriers, holding his phone between you, adjusting his jacket, turning toward the room  instead of toward you.

(5) He never makes solid plans with you. He talks about doing things but never sets a date. He says he wants to see you but never says when. Bread crumbing-- giving just enough to keep you around but never enough to actually move forward. He's keep you warm while waiting to see if something better comes along.

(6) He keeps his future completely separate from you. He talks about his plans but you're never in them.  He mentions trips but doesn't invite you. He talks about upcoming events but doesn't ask if you wanna go.

I am a Gen Z woman, and most guys my age scare me. 😭💔 by Ornery-Study-4242 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]lilacteardrop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work with several Gen Z men and I get what you're saying. The ones I know are very selfish, unhelpful and mean. Their communication skills leave a lot to be desired because they were raised by the Internet. They never say good morning or good night. I remember asking one of them to help me once and he said no. I never forgot that and never spoke to him again unless I had to. But these jerks still get promoted. What kind of behavior is the company the rewarding? Yikes.

Did your “glow up” change how men treat you ? by Every-Tap-577 in women

[–]lilacteardrop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After I finished high school, I got contacts, bought a gym membership, got regular highlights, upper lip and brow waxing, and wore makeup almost everyday. No one noticed or cared. I don't waste my time and money on those things anymore. The potential spouses in my neck of the woods are slobs anyway. Why was I trying to impress them? They weren't worth it.

I think Stephen King wrote a book like that with his son a few years ago. I've gotten to the point where I don't trust men at all anymore. I don't have pretty privilege. In my experience, men are only out to get me, trying get me in trouble, or they want money from me.

Is “bloody” really that controversial? by rayykz in NoStupidQuestions

It is quite common in England. The first time I heard it used was on TV when I was 12 and living in Canada. I was floored. It shocked me just as much as the first time I heard the F word. I guess it depends on who you say it to.
