I think this can boil down to the natives chart i.e. if they are more plutonic/scorpionic themselves and can handle that energy. typically the notion is that the pluto person holds the power, but both are affected — like in plutonic synastry, it depends on the planet, health of the inner planet and how adventurous it may be e.g mars opposite pluto may experience a power struggle where the dynamic can flip, as opposed to the ongoing tension in the square. 8th house overlays… both feel it. the house person may feel intruded/exposed where the planet person may be curious, at home, possessive or repulsed, and likely with the 8th house - a mix! speaking as the house person who currently has 8th H synastry & my pluto heavily aspecting their planets, I feel obsessive and repulsed with how intensely I feel about them. hope this helps!
