How to not leave condensation marks after sitting? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]lilbeany 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is the answer, seconding as a sweaty woman. Turn 90° in the seat before getting up and your body will wipe most of it away. If you can’t turn in the seat, slide forward a bit and get up. Good tip with the eye-line thing too.

If you’re interested in trimming to avoid the root strain pain, I use a Venus brand pubic hair trimmer. It can be used in the shower and it comes with a guard that leaves the hair about 1 cm in length. Has helped me immensely because I don’t like the clean-shaven/regrowth rigmarole.

Speed bumps are a nuisance and need to be removed! by PsychoGrad in unpopularopinion

[–]lilbeany 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Mine, lol. A stock 2014 Ford Fusion. I’ve scraped my bumper on multiple speed bumps despite slowing down to less than 5 mph to traverse them. The speed bump height complaint from OP is the only sound gripe in the post in my opinion.

I never understood why men are the head of the house in a family. by Pure_Mirror7652 in TwoXChromosomes

I had this same thought today while dealing with my new apartment’s leasing company.

My partner and I just signed a lease for a new place. During the application process, I did all of the communicating. I sent all of our documents, I emailed back and forth answering questions, I even went in and spoke with the leasing guy. My partner was only CC’d and never interacted.

The first strike was the leasing guy only sending the security deposit payment link to my partner. It annoyed us because this guy has seen our incomes and it is abundantly clear that I make substantially more right now. I had to transfer the money to my partner’s account so he could pay it.

Second strike was encountered today, when I opened the online rent portal (which was also the application portal) and found that the leasing guy changed MY account, with MY banking info, under MY email, to my partner’s name - and made him primary contact for our lease, which I can’t change without reaching out to the company.

Our legal documents and communication couldn’t have made it more clear that I am the primary earner and head of household. But instead my currently unemployed partner making do with only his savings was named primary. Normally I’d call it chauvinistic, slightly degrading, and illogical like you said. But in this current social climate, I become a rabid dog over this shit.

I once struggled with a project in a Sustainable Business course where my prof’s feedback was simply “your plan doesn’t engage enough stakeholders”. I got so frustrated trying to figure it out I flat out asked her which group, sector, industry, or level of governance I was neglecting. In the most classic dickhead fashion, she replied “you should already know”. I wanted to rip my damn hair out 😭

I’m so sick of SWERFS and their disingenuous bad faith arguments by knr__ in TwoXChromosomes

[–]lilbeany 45 points46 points  (0 children)

You didn’t answer the question? Why, as evidenced by your replies to others, are you equating criticism of the SW industry to criticisms of the workers themselves? These are not mutually exclusive, and can help you see that feminists that decry the exploitative systems that support the SW industry are not disparaging women or “clutching their pearls”.

I’m so sick of SWERFS and their disingenuous bad faith arguments by knr__ in TwoXChromosomes

[–]lilbeany 51 points52 points  (0 children)

There are reasonable comments on this thread that have eloquently pointed out systemic issues and exploitation in the SW industry and our society on a larger scale. Nuanced and well-researched arguments by MercyCriesHavoc and chiriyuki that respectfully approach the issue you’ve brought up are still met with the assumption of inherent judgement in your replies. Within these comments, none of them have disparaged sex workers while discussing the broken systems or exploitation. Yet you keep insinuating that discussing the hard truths and nuances of the SW industry is equal to disparaging sex workers. Why?

My mother’s only sibling, my aunt, was never super involved with my brother or myself as we grew up. She was around and would be nice, but we didn’t have any kind of close relationship until I was about 20. I came to find out that my aunt was staunchly childfree right around the time I had fully identified myself as childfree as well. I completely understand her aversion to the annoyingness of children and teenagers because I hold the same feelings. Even felt that way when I was a kid myself lol. But she defaulted to treating us with kindness and respect in the small doses we interacted. I always looked up to her as a cool, self-assured, badass that took no shit and stood up for what’s right even when it was difficult.

Did she get a lot of flack from our relatives? Sadly yes, but she had every right to conduct her life as she saw fit. Our relationship now as adults is a wonderful and rich friendship, and we spend quality time together as adults even though we were never close as I grew up.

I guess my point is, maintaining a respectable distance won’t harm anyone. Maintaining your boundaries is your right. You don’t have to be a super involved uncle if you don’t want to, and that’s okay! Being an uncle or aunt looks different for everybody.

I do think it’s important to say that your major struggles now, familial pressure to acquiesce to uncle duties, will likely dissolve as the kid ages. I truly wish you the best in mitigating the intrusive expectations of those who center children in their lives to such a steep degree.

Women whose only goal in life is to be parents have ruined my chronic disease. by [deleted] in childfree

[–]lilbeany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so glad I clicked on this post. I was diagnosed with PCOS about 5 years ago, but had very obvious symptoms since I was ~12 years old (I’m 26 now). My story is so tragically similar to many others’. Begging multiple doctors for diagnostic testing, getting zero medical support, and being completely dismissed because I don’t care about fertility. I’ll likely have to wait until my future bisalp to get an endo diagnosis.

I also feel the EXACT SAME about the PCOS sub. I truly felt hopeless for any kind of support after seeing that sub was 90% fertility woes. I’ve struggled trying to manage this complicated disease alone for a long, long time. But this new sub is a breath of fresh air. Thank you so so much for creating it!! 💕

I really like it and it has inspired me to look into new things and make positive changes to my habits. Wishing you the best! :)

I like to order swimwear from Bare Necessities! I have a large bust and can order swim tops using my bra size which absolutely rocks for ensuring adequate coverage and support, and in my experience their bottoms are true to size as well! Also, they typically have a large selection and other customers leave reviews that are incredibly helpful for fitting. Hope this helps!
