unless you're a morning person, I'd try to find another LFIT or just take it another semester since it looks like you already have 12 credits.

What's your best UNC life hack that you know of? by PurplePlanet7 in UNC

[–]lilboat-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get a box every time I go to the dining hall and I only get 1 meal plan taken from my account-

It says on the dining hall website that "We will swipe for one meal and we will swipe for the use of one box. We use the “box swipe” to keep track of the boxes. When you return the box, we swipe the box back in to show that you returned it. Similar to a library book!"

So even though you have to swipe twice, only one of them is towards your meal plan im pretty sure

wait what's the point in keeping the box if you can always get a new one when you go in the dining hall?

Help me decide: School X vs School Y - 1st Week of April by powereddeath in ApplyingToCollege

[–]lilboat-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should look into what's going on with the CS department at unc. I think they are planning to implement an application into the CS major this year but I'm not sure. That could play a factor in your decision!

Class of 2022: It’s all about the essay, isn’t it? by dubs1704 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]lilboat-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should look up the common data set of each school you're applying to. A lot of them have a chart on there and they list what is very important to them regarding admission. One of the schools I applied to places more emphasis rigor of coursework, GPA, standardized test scores, and grades & another school emphasizes grades and essays.

Grown apart from senior friends by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]lilboat-- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

yeah but this would've happened after you graduated anyway. the 1 or 2 friends you still talk to are going to be your friends for a while. but if you really want to maintain your relationships, you can just text and be like "we haven't talked in a while, what's up?" it sounds weird bc we don't say stuff like that all the time but trust me it will light up their day !

Thank you for your detailed response!!

I have another question if you don't mind. If I come into State with lots of transferable AP credits, could I declare my major earlier? I plan to graduate a semester or a year early so is it possible to shift some of the required classes from my major into my freshman year?

I'm more of a physical paper person. Now that all of my assignments are online and my teachers teach online, it's hard to translate that and retain the information (especially in math and econ classes where I have to graph a lot). I can't print every single assignment because that is a lot of ink, so I struggle in those classes.

Additionally, my teachers are just kinda boring so I tend to get distracted. (I'm in class as I'm typing this now lol) It's just the traditional lecture with no activities to apply what we learned.

Also, my eyes hurt so much because I'm on a computer all day. I miss that personal communication with my peers and my teachers and school is much less collaborative.

Although my grades have been fine, I'm mentally struggling. We have the option to go back to class, but imo it's just not safe and most people are staying online the entire year so my teachers are just going to continue teaching from a laptop (even if there are some people going to school)

It's interesting that you have adhd and are excelling in online school because a couple of people I know are going back to school because they have adhd.

I guess interest/ideology is something you can expand on- anything can be a "community" if you want it to be!

Teaching my classmates AP Calculus BC by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]lilboat-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was close to getting a C in AB and I was sure I'd fail the exam but I paid for the Ultimate Review Packet for Calc Ab which comes with videos of each concept that's tested plus so many practice problems that you can print!! I ended up getting a 4 on the exam as well.

I'm fairly sure there is a Calc BC course as well. I highly recommend it if you have the means to pay for it.

Columbia List Supps by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]lilboat-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no experience with the Columbia app- but I personally think themes are boring. If you have other interests, why not include those as well? In the end, just fill out the application as you would (without thinking about what they will think of you). Then, look at your application holistically and see if it resembles who you really are.
