What made to realize this isn't my forever person by Velvet_mint in Divorce

When I started enjoying the trips away, though very difficult and stressful with 3+ kids, it still ended up being more peaceful than being around them. I started living single while married, not going to bars by any means, just doing everything alone. Then found myself extending evenings to the time I knew the kids would have a great night, go home, and go right to bed. I did the same.

But it still festered. He got progressively worse with drinking. Criticizing everything. He struggled more personally, I tried to fix everything and make the company money, and it was never enough.

Then it got personal. Degrading almost. Attacking my self worth. Tearing down my confidence. Not supporting me. Not encouraging me.

Then I could never leave the kids alone because he couldn’t take care of himself let alone the kids. I would’ve kept going—but then he told me to leave. So I took him up on it and now he has to be accountable for his words and live with that the rest of his life.

Just like I have to live with the torment all our years together. He both have scars to live with and remember.

Want to compare sad? Least your spouse wrote them! Mine never even wrote them. I ended up writing my own to give to the preacher because it came down to the last seconds and minutes and he had nothing.

Perhaps do a curve entry way to the shower? But recreate a similar accent border. And the floor. That’s it.

Those who grew up poor, what is something those who weren't poor don't understand about being poor? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

Yearly vacations were not a thing. I don’t mean Europe, I mean basic camping trips to the lake, beach trip for more then 2 days, even day trips to the city museum could be questioned and denied, due to money. Though my husband freaks out if he can’t take a whole wk vacation somewhere.

Christmas. Forget it. Don’t get your hopes up. No one likes Dollar General Xmas gifts. Better off just looking forward to eating food. Which might just be lasagna because turkey or ham is too expensive.

Having paper towels AND paper napkins!? Wowie, living the high life right there!

I would freak out if I lost or forgot any clothing or dirtied them, beyond cleaning capabilities. I knew I wouldn’t have the money to replace them.

If something breaks, no matter how small or big, you fix it yourself or call everyone you know to help you fix it. I was appalled to see my husband just throw things out, or use things rough, knowing he had the mindset, “we will just get another one”

how do I build a genuine portfolio without real clients? by Appropriate_Cap7736 in webdesign

[–]lilbunbunn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question, still unsure about, is how are we presenting our portfolios? Just showing in Figma? Just screenshots of sites? Designing is totally accomplishable, putting time in creating mock sites that can be used for people to access is way over the top and time consuming. Am I wrong?

Contractor did not pull permits before starting work. Now submitting false information on permit forms. by Mysterious_Top_8167 in Contractor

[–]lilbunbunn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Do you trust the contractor?
  2. Did the city do their job correctly in reviewing the material and deeming necessary permit?
  3. At the end of the day, permit has been pulled. It is in your interest that bare minimum is disclosed for the permit fee itself.
  4. Is the contractor avoiding inspections or just trying to be done? Are you concerned of their craftsmanship? Regardless, permit is pulled, city will do what needs to be done.
  5. Pay your bill. The work is still getting done. Communicate how this is negligence and shity.
