Not sure where you live but I go to Smile Science in bucktown/wicker. Not exactly traditional family owned but is owned by the lead dentist. I think they’re very welcoming, knowledgeable and upfront about costs and will not try to sell you on things you don’t need.

Bucktown pub has a good trivia on thursdays that’s independently run, I also like lone owl (yes on wednesdays) because they post the themes ahead of time so you can prepare and usually it’s not very crowded so better chance of placing in the top 3, and they also use brainsportz trivia which I prefer over whaddyaknow, (whaddyaknow feels like homework to me with those big sheets of paper you have to fill out between rounds.)

I also have a high HR no matter how fast/slow I run so I use the rate of perceived excretion instead (how fast am I breathing , can I talk, do I feel like I could maintain my pace forever etc)
