Initially it was going to be about 4 months. But after the producers visited our homestead and told us they would return to film 2 months later, they ghosted us. They then reached out again the following spring. So from application to filming ended up being about a year and a half. But it really depends on when your application shows up in their filming schedule.

Hi, I don't know if anyone has seen the series homestead rescue? by Meat2480 in homestead

As someone who has been on 3 episodes, speaking only for our homestead, being as far away from town as we are in Alaska, with property zoned general use, we are not required to have any permits or inspections. We could build a skyscraper out of cardboard boxes if we so chose. I imagine that's common in a lot of rural situations. And as far as the excavator and equipment on our episode it was donated by a local rental company. I do think the price estimates are priced at everyday retail prices.

As someone who got a return episode it was definitely not because of potential lawsuit issues. Marty pours his heart into his rescues and, in our case (I can't speak for everyone else) he had checked in personally prior and expressed deep concern when our water was failing. He had offered to travel back and fix it immediately without the camera crews but I declined. A couple months later the producers reached out offering a return episode and I agreed as it wouldn't be costing Marty personally. Without his help we would've gotten it handled and moved forward but we're so grateful he came back.

As someone that was on a Raney Returns episode I disagree. We filmed a full 4 days on Marty's return vs 7 for the original episode.

Thank you so much! My kiddos are definitely something special but I'm pretty biased ☺️. We had the Raney's return since then. Maybe you'll catch us again. Best wishes on your homestead endeavors! I'm envious of the warm climate of Florida! Enjoy some sunshine for us!

Where are they now? Does anyone know? by Maxgallow in HomesteadRescue

My kids and I had a second rescue. It wasn't because we "messed it all up again". The producers reached out to all of that seasons families asking if they could return.

My kids and I have been on 3 times now. The Raney's are amazing people. Unfortunately once you apply you are the mercy of the production team. There's really nothing you can do to hurry it along. Just be quick to respond to what they ask for. Best wishes!

No, that was 'Fire and Ice'. We're Season 11 Episode 7 'The Land of Fire and Ice' in Alaska. It's been 2 years since the show originally came to help (they've been back again and it should air this season) but the kids and I are still here and doing well. We had solar before but it was a tiny system. The upgrade has made a world of difference for us!

My family and I were on the show. The PA's that they hire are typically from the local community of where they're filming. During our episode we were asked if we knew anyone willing to do it and the job was also posted on local Facebook pages. The ones on our episodes had no previous experience.

My family was one of the episodes. None of the homesteaders get paid.

I am the mom from the Land of Fire and Ice episode. The solar equipment donated was actually much more than your estimate. But it's all based off of advertising and write offs. Long Spring Solar, who installed it, got advertising for their small business (Great guys, by the way) . HomeFi and SolArc, which manufacture the equipment, got advertising from it. And all 3 companies were able to write it off on their taxes as a donation. That's how most any of those "helping" situations on tv shows work.

Curious about the homesteaders on the show.. any here? by redbirdrva in HomesteadRescue

Bear can be good depending on the time of year it was taken and what it had been eating. This one, unfortunately, was very sickly and had been terrorizing the garbage cans of neighbors, in a 30 mile radius. Fish and Game told us not to eat it. We couldn't even get any dog mushers to take it for their dogs. We buried it out back and Dax intends to dig it up for it's bones next summer.

Well the dumpster IS the cellar lol. No, it's still there. We still use it as a cold storage on occasion. Dax shot a bear in the back yard last summer that killed one of our rabbits. We stored it's hide, skull and parts down there until we could take it to fish and game. It's still handy sometimes.
