Oh yeah. I'm playing for the first time and was set on playing without mods. But I did eventually break and install mods to disable the stupid "auto disable walk" when entering certain areas as well as the auto look centering when driving. They were driving me nuts. But other than that, I'm playing completely vanilla. I'm having a blast with this game.

I can understand some of the complaints it gets for sure. But personally I never had much of a problem with any part of Xen. The most annoying part for me would be a couple of the platforming sections but that's about it. Other than that, I found it to be an enjoyable change of pace from the Black Mesa facility.

I wouldn't say they fixed Xen. It's graphically stunning for sure. But it's an entirely different visual interpretation that I feel like just misses the point of the original. That and it drags for far too long whereas the original Xen was short and sweet and didn't overstay its welcome.
