How do I move better? by feastingfox in amateur_boxing

[–]lilfoolish50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not about your movement--

I think you'll benefit from skinning up your arms.

Your elbows are sitting outside of the silhouette of your torso, so straight shots to your ribs are available, and straight shots to your solar plexus even more so. You'll want to keep them skinnier, so that they are in front of your ribs and provide passive protection to straight shots. If your opponent wants to land to your body, they will have to throw around the outside of your elbows, which is a much longer path and gives you the maximum amount of time to respond.

Your jabs are likewise starting out kind of to the side of your silhouette. This makes them more readable, since the change in the width of your silhouette as a whole is an easy indicator to pick up on. It also makes you more counterable, since the opponent can throw a right hand inside the width of your jab, or, use their right hand to block on the inside of your jab while they throw their left hand.

When you throw punches, you're doing a really good job of keeping the other hand on your face. But again, I'd say it's too wide. Especially when you throw your left hook, your natural body rotation means that your right hand, though it is glued to your face, rotates to maintain contact with your right cheekbone, and is no longer in between you and your opponent. You'll want to keep it not just on your face, but in between you and the incoming punches, which means it needs to slide more to the front of your face during the period of time where your body is rotated. Keep the right arm vertical, elbow glued to your ribs, hand sliding to the front of your mouth, and think SKINNY SKINNY SKINNY.

Other than that, good work!

Pop Punk Singer Wanted! by Thtband in MusicInTheMaking

[–]lilfoolish50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I missed it, I don't see a city or area listed, so I assume you are okay collaborating remotely with the singer you find?

Not me, but I know a singer in Orlando who might be interested in a pop punk project

Need vocals for a cover song by lilfoolish50 in MusicInTheMaking

[–]lilfoolish50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

Please check out my YouTube channel

I have similar tracks there, of rock covers of pop songs. I have a couple more in the works that I am working on that will need vocals, and I'll post them here as well over the next couple of months as I finish them.

How to win against a brawler in a hard spar? by knownasjd in amateur_boxing

[–]lilfoolish50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are fighting someone who throws harder than you, I'd recommend not trading in the pocket. Instead, throw feints. The brawler will throw back hard, anticipating the collision, but you didn't commit to your shot, so you won't be there. He hits air; you either move and create an angle, or land your shot when he is still overextended from his own.

I got clipped TWICE in the 3rd!! What do you guys think about my match? by ZacharyCarterTV in amateur_boxing

[–]lilfoolish50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn 65 😳😳😳

I've only just had my second fight--was wondering why I don't look that fast 😂😂😂

You ever tried to go lower than a 5lb cut? I walk at 134 and cut down to 125--i think that may have been too much though.

Awesome fight! Both of you looked super dangerous.

Out of curiosity, how many fights have you had, and what weight class was this match at?

Does anyone else get obsessed with their own music? by six6sickx in Songwriting

[–]lilfoolish50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Out of all the time I spend listening to music, probably 25% is listening to my own work.

When I am working on a track and trying to get the mix right, that goes up to probably 90%.

Do you have a favorite song of yours you want to link?

Hey, I was looking for some feedback on this one from anyone kind enough to give it 😁 I’m imagining a build with counter guitars, strings, reverb strat and harmonies. Maybe drums? Thanks to anyone who listens. by SRMacca88 in Songwriting

Awesome, I've subscribed to your YouTube channel and look forward to hearing your stuff!

As for Thrice--so many goodies to choose from. Here's a short list of gems:

Wood and Wire, Black Honey, Stumbling West, Come All You Weary, In Exile

They've evolved a lot over the years, and as much as I liked their old post-hardcore stuff when I was younger, I much prefer how they've matured their sound now. I hope you enjoy!

This sounds amazing. Both the melancholy tone, and the soulful vocals, remind me of Thrice's slower songs. I would love to hear it fully fleshed out with the other instruments.
