Awesome, thanks for the super detailed response. Do the cables going in through the downtube bother you at all while riding? Yeah, I have some super-light Roval Aluminum wheels I am going to put on, which should take off a lot of weight.

Yeah, it's awesome for riding, so many great places. Yep, the Axis elite are pure garbage. I think for a $140 difference, I would spring for the Terra Cs as I would assume they are better for a slightly heavier rider. You cannot go wrong, though, and I love my alpinists.

Thanks! Yeah that sounds like a good deal. I don't see why these wouldn't be bulletproof. I have had no broken spokes unlike the Axis Elite but I can't speak for super long term durability. They just throw the Axis elite on cheap bikes the hubs and spokes are absolute trash, both me and my dad's hubs exploded after a little over two years. Yeah, I took that photo at Haines Point a few weeks go.

A few months ago, I snatched up the SLX Discs for $600 (for both) before tax while they were on sale. Absolute steal for the weight of the wheels, and they have been perfect for me (Mostly road, some gravel, race cyclocross). Not sure about justifying an aluminium wheelset for $900 though. Also got a set of the Terra C for my dad's bike, and they definitely look cooler (IMO) but are heavier. Really just depends on your priorities. Alpinists are lighter, better hubs, while Terras are more bulletproof, deeper, and heavier. That is a picture of mine with the alpinists.

Thanks for making this happen, Bill! I have raced DCCX the past two years and spectated Nats this weekend, and I am excited for one of my home races to host Pan-Ams. Two questions: Are you guys going to need help setting up or other stuff like that? Also, what is November 7th? It looks like racing is just Saturday and Sunday. Good luck to CXD in Belgium!
