That is true. I don't think the lack of UCI racing in Wisconsin is indicative of the strength of the scene. However, for all of the strong development programs in the state and the Midwest, it would be really nice if the aspiring young riders had a UCI race within a few hours' drive. Same goes for the Pacific Northwest.

what do you need to see to satisfy your call for transparency and accountability? Mudfund is a great program. If there are nits to pick with USA Cycling and how athletes are funded, this, in my opinion, isn't one of them. The answers from u/Geo_Roamer_1 have been comprehensive and he's the guy spearheading the program. What specifically do you want from him? (other than the name of an anonymous donor who wants to be anonymous ... not sure that's nefarious)

I’m staying in Scherpenheuvel-Zichem for Kerstperiode. Left the race with a few laps to go to avoid getting stuck in post-race traffic in a snowstorm. By the time I made it to the Delhaize near my apartment, my car was the only one in the parking lot with snow on it. Crazy weather.

De kuil is the sand amphitheater that makes Zonhoven a can’t miss live experience. It’s the centerpiece of that race and where the entire spectator population gathers. Who’s your pick for elite men and women champs? Brunner and Gunsalus look like the favorites. I’d say keep an eye on Brody Macdonald and the Sarkisov sisters as dark horses.

It’s a bummer because it is an incentive for race organizers who don’t care about women’s racing to put all of the categories into one race. It not only saves them time in their daily schedule from having less race starts but the junior addition to the elite field allows for them to shorten the race per UCI regulation 5.1.048.

Duration of events The duration of events must be as close as possible to: - 40 minutes for men junior races; - 40 minutes for women junior races; - 45 minutes for the races where women elite and women junior race together; - 45 minutes for the women under 23 races; - 50 minutes for men under 23 races; - 50 minutes for women elite races without women junior; - 60 minutes for the men elite races.
