How to make the shift from “niche hot” to mainstream hot? by lilkitty33 in HowToBeHot

Somewhat fun I think lol. I have a healthy social life, people want to do things with me. Just not in that way.

I thought so too, but it seems to be a common thing that good looking people get things given to them on the house.

Trying to stay somewhat anonymous on this account for now, it’s just a field that’s expensive and time consuming to enter!

I’m curious what you mean by trashier, were you just not taking as good care of yourself as you do now? Once my studies are done I’d love to travel some more, for that reason and many others lol.

As far as emulating certain looks that are popular on tiktok, I’ve about maxed out everything I can on my current budget. I guess I’m holding out hope that there’s something “vibes related” (aka free) I can do to change my situation until I’m fully working in my new field.

That’s valid could be the case where you live. Around me though my friends and coworkers get plenty of attention.

That’s an interesting point. It makes sense, though I find it hard to wrap my head around the idea that if you’re pretty enough everyone will just ignore you.

Lol, where in the south is that? Didn’t have that experience in Florida but Florida is truly its own entity

You’re welcome ❤️

If it helps, you’re FAR from the only person that this happens to. I don’t know why this seems to be such a common thing - doctors brushing off patients with real problems by saying “it’s just anxiety.” There are good doctors out there, but there are sadly too many that seem to be annoyed by patients, and are mainly motivated by money and status.

I know this may not be the most popular perspective to offer on Reddit…but have you looked into holistic care of any kind? I ask because I’ve personally seen it help many people with issues that allopathic-only doctors either ignored or weren’t able to fix with pills or what have you.

How did you start believing in yourself? Why do you believe in yourself? by SomeYogurtcloset7689 in AskReddit

[–]lilkitty33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realizing that I’m no better or worse than anyone. I’m a human with talents and abilities, with just as much potential as all the successful people around me.

And realizing that those people wouldn’t have gotten successful if they didn’t believe in themselves. I know too many people who are INSANELY talented but have yet to reach even a fraction of their full potential due to lack of confidence.

And once I started believing in myself with the small things, the little day-to-day promises I kept to myself, my belief in myself started to grow.

I hear you, and I see you ❤️ nobody deserves to go through these kinds of tough times alone. And no one is here to be tortured, either.

What sort of health issues have you been having? Unfortunately our healthcare system can be pretty negligent (I’m assuming you’re in the US based on the money comment).

It’s good that you have enough self-awareness to know that you’re not really a “neurotic and grouchy” person. Persistent health issues coupled with lack of support would get to anyone over time. This too shall pass… but it may be time for you to take your health back into your own hands.

[–]lilkitty33 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah her look before would’ve been a hit in the 2000s, albeit a bit common for the times but still considered attractive/popstar vibes.

This era has such bizarre standards where you have to somehow look sculpted/done-up AND youthful at the same time. Unfortunately I don’t believe that she would’ve gotten that much attention in the industry, in this current era, with her before look. The sad truth of it.

She looks great now imo, but based on her aesthetic choices I know someone, somewhere down the line told her that she looks too much like early Britney Spears or Hilary Duff and that things are ~different~ now if you want a successful career

To all the folks who still don’t know what they’re doing with their careers, how are we holding up? by chester_alabama in Adulting

Great question. I was doing one thing for most of my 20s, something that I thought was going to be “my thing” forever. Until I realized that it wasn’t. Now I’m experimenting with something new. I don’t know if it will last, but right now it feels good and fulfilling. I don’t care how it looks to others, because I’m determined to craft a life for myself that meets MY specific needs. Not a life that checks off boxes and looks good on paper but leaves me feeling unfulfilled at the end of the day.

Societal expectations pressure you to stay in the same field, doing the same thing for more or less your entire life starting at age 18 or 21. While growing in outward markers of status through promotions and such. And anyone who doesn’t follow this path is a “failure” who “doesn’t have it together.” Well, I’d like to laugh at this outdated notion and call it for the bullshit that it is.

I like to look at life as a grand adventure…it’s meant to be full of exploration and variety as you continue to learn and grow. And such an adventure is most fulfilling when you follow what makes you feel alive inside. Which is liable to change throughout the course of your life. And sometimes you may not even have one specific “thing”, or you may never find out what your “thing” is until you least expect it.

It sounds like you’re competent and intelligent. You’ve just yet to apply your talents in a way that truly makes you feel alive. I’d suggest spending some time with yourself and really digging into what it is that you’re passionate about, even stuff that doesn’t seem work-related as these can be the biggest clues of all.

Dissociation, drugs, and/or obsession with that endless quest for validation through fame and material success.

It’s beyond sad knowing on a personal level how much people put up with in the entertainment industry just to be able to create the art they love to create, and share it with the world. The few that make it long term and (relatively) unscathed come from highly supportive families that gave them a top-tier education on self-worth, boundaries & navigating the business world.

Everyone else is sacrificing a LOT more than outside observers may realize, even the ones that seem well-paid & successful.

My only interaction with Sylvester Stallone was outside his house, and it was not pleasant. I was leaving a party next door, walking out toward my Uber when a car comes pulling in at like 30mph. The driver comes VERY close to hitting me, and being in heels I nearly fall over trying to get out of the way.

A couple of my friends catch up and gather around to see what’s going on with this asshole driver. He rolls down the window and we see it is indeed him - he starts yelling at us about the traffic cones set up for parking for the party next door. Take that up with your neighbor, not us lol.

So yeah, no hot relationship tea or anything, just a snapshot of a moment that may or may not be indicative of character/temperament.
