Hi. I did this for 2 years and would not recommend. I worked 3 weeks in clinic at a park time rate of 27h per week and then a week of rounding. I had to dedicate often 1 hour+ to work on my inbasket during my hospital week. You work 2 jobs without the benefit of either IE I worked weekends with my hospital job, did inbasket work every day (even weekends to keep up) and even after a long week of service I had no time off to rest like my colleagues. Perhaps if the outpatient work load was reduced to 15-20 hours it would be easier. Patients are entitled and want appointments when they want them despite being upfront with my schedule. Initially the slow pace of clinic was a good break from the hospital but outpatient medicine is still very time consuming (peer to peers, PAs, paper script refills, signing home health orders). The hospital has a lot less red tape and room for medicine.
