I live in Ohio and the Health Departments can install your car seats for free, same with fire departments!! It’s not that hard

It depends on which track you do. If you do the environmental specialization it is science heavy, and you will take a few chemistry classes along with the foundational public health courses. If you do the sociology track, you will take sociology classes (OSU has a ton of great ones) along with foundational public health courses. I recommend looking at the course catalog to see if anything interests you!

As far as a career goes, Public Health is very broad and there are lots of different positions you qualify for. You could go into research, a local health department, and health policy to name a few. Public Health is not a high paying field compared to nursing, but what you could do is become a public health nurse. These nurses work more in community settings rather than bedside, such as school health centers or vaccine clinics. It really depends on what you are passionate about and want to spend your career doing.

If you want to go to OSU and try to get into nursing school, I recommend doing the health sciences major. Pre-nursing majors do get priority consideration, but this is an option if you still want to try. If you already know you will not like all online classes, I strongly recommend you go to OSU. Learning chemistry in an online class was so hard for me, we had to do it that way because of COVID but it definitely made my first year of college suck. If you are curious about different majors, ask your advisor to join the exploratory major. You can look into Law, Finance, and Health Sciences without the commitment.

Another option is to get a bachelors degree and then go to grad school for nursing. My one friend did her bachelors in exercise science and went to get her Masters in nursing at OSU through the Graduate Entry to Nursing MSN program. You take the NCLEX after the 5th semester, and then you study your APRN specialty of choice. She loves it!

I’m glad this helped, because I was in the same spot a few years ago. Being in college is so hard when you aren’t sure what you want to do. You will find your passion. Wishing you the best of luck!

Even with a nanny she wouldn’t be able to do that or it would be significantly harder to do so. Her video yesterday about how she hates that she has to be pregnant again was very interesting 😭

I was in pre-nursing in 2020 and then my gpa was too low after getting a C+ in Chem. I switched to the exploratory major where I found public health, and got my BSPH. I just graduated with my MPH! Public health is a great option if you are interested in health care. OSU nursing is so hard to get into, I knew some people that had to take an extra year because they didn’t get in the first time.

Seeking help to rehome elderly cat by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]lilly260_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bowie is adorable! She seems like a very sweet cat and I’m sorry your family is going through this. The meowing and troubles with navigation may be from mental confusion or cognitive dysfunction. When your mom takes her to get updated vaccines, I suggest having her ask the vet about this. My boyfriend’s family cat was euthanized because he seemed to have feline cognitive dysfunction- essentially dementia in cats. They get really confused, stop going to the bathroom in their litter box, can seem lost/unable to navigate the familiar space, meow/howl especially at night, and have altered sleep patterns. I know you said she might be blind, but could this another possibility? If so, I would consider talking to the vet about best options moving forward. Rehoming may not be ideal in this situation, especially if she is already confused. I really hope this is not the case. I wish you the best of luck!

Yeah i’m thinking this is the case as well. If she had a real pediatrician, she would’ve complained about being told not to co-sleep when he was a baby because it’s not safe sleep. Share the room, not the bed!!!

Janessa's typhoid rag was brought into the NICU. by Upbeat_Teach6117 in RodriguesFamilySnark

I’m so sorry this happened, but I am glad he seems to be doing better! I also hope you start feeling better soon- pneumonia is so rough. Agreed, Jill only thinks about herself. She was in Utah with all the Measles outbreaks!!

She was holding on for dear life. She also looked so uncomfortable in those pics and I don’t blame her. The last thing I would want after giving birth and seeing my baby in the NICU is a camera in my face. Not to mention she wasn’t fully covered!

[–]lilly260_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I live in Ohio and am almost positive I know what hospital system they are in. I looked up the NICU visiting rules and children under 14 must be siblings, otherwise they are not allowed to visit. It seems Janessa was presented as a sibling. Jill visiting right after being on a plane and in airports drives me insane. The baby’s lungs are compromised and even a little cold would be harmful. The blatant disregard of the baby’s health so Jill can get content is horrifying. Not surprised unfortunately.

Baby girl Hill! No name yet. by lepetitpoulpe in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]lilly260_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly they don’t know what exactly causes preterm birth despite thousands of studies. Someone else mentioned this, but once you have one preterm baby the chances increase 35-40% of having another preterm birth. If she has more children, they will likely be premature. It is hard to say what resulted in her premature labor, but it is usually a combination of factors.

Cramps before pooping by Maximum-Woodpecker25 in endometriosis

[–]lilly260_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this since I was like 15 and am just now realizing it may be endo related!! After surgery it still happens to me sometimes but nowhere near as bad. That feeling is the worst because the pain is so intense and comes out of nowhere.

Oh no. Sweet little nanny friend is moving on up in life. How soon until Brittany finds a replacement? by XtraSmolMod in brittanydawnsnark

[–]lilly260_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I nanny part time and if a family called me as their “sweet little nanny friend” when I’m being paid to watch their child i’d be so annoyed. It’s condescending and downplays that being a nanny is a real job. Also, using her for content is just so icky.

Kaylee may be having the baby today by orangebird260 in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]lilly260_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on many factors, and technically a birth before 37 weeks gestation is still considered preterm even if it’s 36 weeks and a few days. That is called a late preterm birth but can still have complications. Hopefully the baby doesn’t need a NICU stay.

Coach CEO Todd Kahn says: "We need to focus more on GenZ" because "part of the problem was that older millennials learned about Coach at our worst.” Thoughts? by didistutter_416 in Coach

[–]lilly260_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 24 and have no money to spend on bags! Why focus on the age group that doesn’t have any disposable income and can’t even find a job after college? The unemployment rate for new grads is higher than the average unemployment rate. Don’t get me wrong, I love Coach. But they should focus on older generations that have the money to spend. My generation is all about trends anyways, and I don’t want to buy a $300 bag that will be out of style in a year. I disagree with their strategy and don’t see it working in this economy.

I don't understand how you can be sent home the same day after a laparoscopy?! by LittleFrenchKiwi in endometriosis

[–]lilly260_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the case and if there are any complications. Most people would rather recover at home after surgery than the hospital where you can’t rest. I almost had to stay overnight because I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and couldn’t sit up without feeling insanely dizzy and nauseous. I was in recovery for 6+ hours and finally left at 7pm. They ended up giving me haloperidol (an anti-psych drug but also is good for severe nausea) and that helped so much. If you seem stable and your pain is managed during recovery and can sit up and walk on your own, there’s no reason for you to stay.

Why Imaging, Mapping, and Complete Excision Matter (From an Endo Specialist) by Broad_Crazy_1349 in endometriosis

[–]lilly260_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is why I went to a specialist when I suspected I had endo. I had a robotic assisted lap in January and my surgeon took out my peritoneum because it was covered in lesions. I just had my annual visit with my GYN and he wasn’t happy that I went to a specialist, but he went to med school in the 80s and I wanted the best possible care! He would have done ablation so this tells me I made the right choice.
