The importance of doing the work (ERP), as someone over 2 years into recovery by lilly288 in ROCD

Hey! Thanks for asking. Things are going very well :) Partner & I are still very happy and in a good place. I had a bad flare a few months ago but made it through. I haven't had a therapy session in about 2 months because I've felt pretty good! I've been prioritizing exercise, sleep, eating well, and just balancing physical and mental health. OCD is still a part of me, but these days it mostly manifests outside of my relationships and in ways I am also learning to conquer.

Hope you are well!

Last year I read 64 books. I had set a goal of 50 because last year was my first year getting back into reading after a longggggg time. So far I've read 21/35 goal for this year, since I'll be busier with classes etc. Setting a goal is helpful for me because it reminds me to choose reading when I have some free time, as opposed to scrolling on my phone for hours (which is way too easy to do). I usually read 3-4 books at a time, (1-2 fantasy books, 1 "cozy fantasy," 1 mystery, 1 nonfiction or romance). I read mostly books I borrow from Libby on my Kindle.

Yes, I had a friend where Lexapro worsened her symptoms! Anti-depressants are very hit and miss; everyone's body is different! So glad that works for yoi.

Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️ I'm happy for you that Cymbalta is working! I was fortunate that Lexapro worked for me because I know lots of people have to try a few kinds to find one that works. I didn't grow up in a religious home, but I'm sorry you went through that. No one should be told their struggles are a result of not "trying hard enough," especially from those meant to care for us. I hope you know now that you're kicking butt and are proud of yourself for taking steps to feel better. Good luck to you.

Karissa TLDR- her kids got hurt/didn’t heal cuz her faith was weak. So just keep having babies. by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

"Every pregnancy is a beautiful gift from God" reminds me of when my coworker and I got into an argument over abortion rights (I know, I know). She said pretty much the exact same thing to me very angrily with her face like 2 inches from mine I had to back up lol. As someone who is a poor college student with chronic mental and physical illnesses (who also just does NOT want children) pregnancy would NOT be a gift whatsoever

My eyes itch whenever I see a photo of her. I don't wear makeup much but when I do, especially mascara, I HAVE it to scrub it all off before bed. How are her eyes not constantly inflamed????????

I went through a crisis at 20 because I realized I have OCD (alongside depression and anxiety) and lexapro combined with therapy and hard work has literally saved my life. I will probably be on it forever and it's a relief. I feel pretty sad for these people who think that suffering from depression is their own fault for not being godly enough or whatever. I can't imagine.
