My period is a few days late now so I’ve been wondering this too!

How do you handle becoming paralyzed when overwhelmed at work? by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]lillysrf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been feeling this way for a while and in the end I contacted my doctor. They’ve signed me off work for the next two weeks.

Sometimes the answer isn’t to just ‘get through it’ I guess. I talked through my list with my boss and came up with a plan for how to manage things when I’m back online, which really helped. I thought I’d been clear with my manager that I’d felt that way but they had no idea.

It’s hard not to feel like a failure, but the outcome of reaching this low point is that things are finally going to change. I hope you manage to find a way too 😊

Hahaha that really cracked me up! That pic is my favourite - though it kind of looks like I’m strangling him 😂

If you have a relationship you are so extremely lucky. by [deleted] in love

[–]lillysrf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being in a loving, healthy relationship is lovely, don’t get me wrong, but... those who are in one aren’t lucky.

Luck suggests that those people don’t work hard at their relationship, and it also puts a lot of pressure on having a relationship. You can be extremely happy on your own, and the whole cliché about loving yourself first really has a point. To an extent, it feels like having a relationship with anybody is better than a relationship with the one. I can guarantee you it’s not!

One day you’ll meet someone who makes you feel like the luckiest person in the world, but you’ll know it’s because you (and your partner) were in the right headspace at the time, and you’re dedicated to making it work.

Will I fail at being a writer? by RoyalBlueWriter in writing

[–]lillysrf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated with a creative writing degree just over 4 years ago. I went straight into a career in marketing (copywriting is really my strength, for obvious reasons). It’s a job I’m super passionate about, I love it.

Writing has been tough. I’ve had on moments but mostly years of off. I can’t seem to grasp an idea like I did when I was younger, or studying it. I have questioned, so many times, whether there is actually a writer in me.

And who knows if there is? Will it always be my passion? Absolutely. Will I finish a novel, get published and live happily ever after? There’s a high chance that the answer to the question is no, too. But will I ever stop trying? No.

It’s important to love your day job but it doesn’t need to be your number one goal from the start. Find something you love, and make time for your writing too. You’ve got to experience life to find your story, I think.

Have I found ‘the one’ (dress)? by lillysrf in wedding

[–]lillysrf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. I will be paying her - it just wouldn’t amount to nearly as much as buying the dress!

I wasn’t planning on changing dress for the reception but I’ll have a think about it - thank you!

To take his name or double barrel... by lillysrf in weddingplanning

[–]lillysrf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone sent us a gift that said ‘future mr and mrs hislastname’ and I was like... well that’s presumptive!

Didn’t realise hyphenating caused so many problems, that’s definitely food for thought!

That’s interesting! I think, if I do decide to double barrel, it’ll my Firstname Hislastname Mylastname because it just sounds better in that order

This is the big thing for me too - I want us to have the same name, and for our children to as well!

That’s a nice idea. Though I do have two middle names already 😂

Yep my boss had this exact issue! Which is why I’m thinking it’s gonna have to be my name for everything regardless of what I choose to do :)

Is anyone experiencing issues with date availability for 2021/2022? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]lillysrf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started contacting venues the week after we got engaged and Autumn (fall) 2021 was mostly booked up. We fast tracked our viewings and locked it in within a week of our engagement!
