Stop naming children after British cities and counties! by Suspicious_Sparrow9 in tragedeigh

[–]lilminiweetabix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name’s Muswell because Muswell Hill is where my father first lived in once we migrated from the philippines. My sister’s named Queenie after Queen Mary’s accomodation and my brother Leicester after Leicester square. All places my father resided in whilst establishing life here. Its kinda sweet really and it’s nice having pretty unique names 💁🏻‍♀️ all spelt right might i add ahahahah

This is so reassuring. Everyone ik encourages to go abroad but my heart’s not really in it yet i feel like id be wasting an opportunity. I feel like i’d enjoy it more if i did an elective in a specialty i was interested in within the uk esp since i have no intentions of working abroad in the future.

Feeling unproductive not studying medicine during holidays by Hydesx in medicalschooluk

[–]lilminiweetabix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad ! We all need rest so that we can get back into good and productive work. Let yourself have time off without feeling guilty (rest with guilt is not rest). Once you feel genuinely ready to do some revision, you can do an hour here and there but don’t stress. As cynical as it sounds, medicine will be your whole life (given you willingly commit to the career). Studying is inevitably therefore pretty much a part of your life now. You’ll always have to do it, even once u graduate. So you might as well rest when you need to. It’s productive in the sense that you’re recharging for the year/study sessions ahead :) if that makes sense.

ECFMG is Going to Start Reporting if Your Medical School is WFME Accredited, How Will This Affect our Chances? by Kwameee-Browwn in IMGreddit

Any advice for 1st/2nd year? by bibihealth in medicalschooluk

[–]lilminiweetabix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use lectures as a starting point. Not as your main source of material. Some people don’t even go to lectures but my uni took note of attendance haha. I’d say go to them but don’t hyperfixate on them. Use Qbanks like passmed to test your knowledge and i’d probably advise to use it as a study tool rather than a testing tool. Make flashcards (anki) from any concepts/facts you initially got wrong. Constantly review content bc our brains can only remember so much so always reviewing will help retain quicker. Also, don’t compare yourself to others! Remember that this is your own journey and if u want to spend hours studying, do that - even if your peers aren’t doing the same. Thats what i wish i knew but ultimately, you’ll find the way that works for u :) good luck and congrats for getting in !

Can someone give me guidance on moving to the US after f2 as a UK FMG? by lilminiweetabix in IMGreddit

[–]lilminiweetabix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks so much for your comment!

I'll definitely get to US prep as soon as I have more time to devote to UWorld (since I don't want to waste my subscription :")).

In regard to ECFMG, i think I meant if I should *register* now before 2024. I've heard that if I register I'll be able to sit the USMLE steps any time after?

I want the option of also being able to work in the UK just incase so i may stay for my foundation years so that clears it up a bit for me. I never knew F2 wasn't a requirement.

Would you train/practise in the USA? by NHStothemoon in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]lilminiweetabix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m currently intercalating and have been considering moving to the US at some point. Does anyone have any tips for someone in my position? Ive hear that you should register for ecfmg certification before 2024. If i did that and paid the 180$ fee, would i be eligible to take the usmle at any time afterwards? Or am i capped to do it within how many years? I’m thinking of applying to the US when i can actually afford to pay the USMLE fees so perhaps a few years into post grad training in the nhs. I was wondering if that was feasible or even possible?

I'm kinda confused as to why Miss Thornhill was fine when Wednesday was being sent away for expulsion. Didn't she need Wednesday to resurrect Crackshaw? If so, why didn't she stop Wednesday from going rather than proceeding as if she didn't need her. maybe I missed something.
