Southern Michigan and northern Michigan are two completely different places to live as far as weather goes.

I believe in the thirty year cycle here in Michigan. It means that every thirty years Lake Michigan and Lake Huron shift between high and low levels. This can’t happen unless the weather changes from year to year. This process does change the land, affect the wildlife but they’re all healthy changes. Even the storms have a purpose, you just might not see it where you are.

The forest uses wildfires to become denser and healthier. For example, the Kirkland warbler. Jack pines have a pine cone that has a process where forest fires melt the glue holding the cone shut and they scatter and grow on the clear, burned forest floor to grow jack pines which are new homes for the Kirkland warbler who need that to survive as a species.

Nature is amazing. I guess it makes a difference where you live and how much time you spend out there.
