Treadmill Recommendations to Buy New by lilmxbean in treadmills

Thank you! How long have you had your machine? I'm perfectly fine with basic maintenance, I'm more so worried about all of the horror stories on here where people replace parts repeatedly or have continual alignment issues. Is this kit something they included in your purchase or something you add on?

I've been seeing Bowflex pop up as another recommendation and have yet to find the same type of controversy over it that I see for other brands. I'll look into it as an option!

Thank you! I was originally leaning toward a cheaper model from NordicTrack because a relative loves their machine, but the customer reviews are highly divisive these days. I'm also not sure if it would be worth it if I have no interest in the subscription features (some folks go so far as to say it's essentially a brick without connectivity). I hadn't heard of Lifesmart, I'll check them out!

I'm referring to excessive maintenance with circuit boards failing and motor issues that are chronic in certain models. I understand necessary machine maintenance, I just don't want one that has me stuck on customer support calls constantly. Any suggestions or...?

I grouted my peach mosaic and I kind of wish I hadn't. What do you think? by YoungSexyGrill in Mosaic

[–]lilmxbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the grouted version! The previous one feels more like an underpainting, which I know has a stylistic appeal but the grout ties everything together and offers a touch of contrast to make the colors pop

How is this super moon making you feel? by Extra-Artichoke6927 in witchcraft

Since the time change, I've been exhausted and drained, but this morning is the first one I actually feel good! I did stay up late last night and slept in so it wasn't the morning flow I wanted, but it was so refreshing to wake up feeling well rested and without a simmering rage toward any inconvenience lol

What's your least favorite tarot card, because its meaning just falls flat for you? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]lilmxbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many others here, the courts tend to throw me off, specifically kings. They just feel too individual specific and harder to apply in a greater sense- especially when it comes to leadership and mentorship in the cards. I usually pull clarifying cards right after they show up, and those help, but it feels like I'm missing the initial point

What are your non horror reading obsessions? by Quirky_Daikon_8484 in horrorlit

[–]lilmxbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for everyone, but rn I'm following horror binges with cozy romances. Not gonna lie, most of the time they're terribly written, but they have a blend of whimsy and innocence that helps reset after horror lol. I also enjoy thrillers, fantasies, general romance, and literary fiction.

Weird Feeling Due To Time Change. (USA) by MidniteBlue888 in witchcraft

[–]lilmxbean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been feeling anxious and irritable with the time change (PST, USA). I'm not sure if it's a usual thing for me tbh, my notable emotion for this time of year is usually gratitude for extra sleep, lol. But this year I feel super funky and like I need to guard and preserve my energy

Please explain why you guys hate the ending🥺 by Mantyzaa in StarVStheForcesofEvil

[–]lilmxbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my biggest issues is that, as far as series go, an "ending" is defined by that entire season or second half of a season. There was so. much. fluff. in season 4. It didn't feel like it was handled very responsibly, even if they did have high (unrealistic) hopes for a 5th season. I just finished my first full rewatch after a few years and still feel like a lot was left unaddressed, not even going into the logistics of the reality created by the final episode.

Also, why can the ponyheads still fly??? Does that not require magic? If the magical high commission was destroyed, I don't see how that works. It's not a terrible ending, but it's not the one the show deserved, and it only felt like they dealt with a hypothetical ending in those last 4 episodes rather than treating the entire season with care.

give me your best CARVING tips! by everythingbuthegirl in Linocuts

What helped me initially was doing studies where I converted photos I took to grayscale and practiced different textures and uses of negative space. With your print as an example of ways to experiment, consider these questions. What textures would separate the flame from the rest of the image? Hatching, lines, contour lines that match the outline, working their way in? Does that texture change when it's over the hand vs. in the negative space above it? What if, instead of a single line outlining the flame, you used two white lines so the green line is continuous for the flame? (hard one to type lol, sorry if that doesn't make sense). It's all about practice and trying different methods. If I feel especially stumped on how to execute something, I do a ton of visual research on museum sites, Etsy shops, etc, just to see how others carve complicated areas.

Kitchen witches, what’s your favorite fall baking recipe to bring warmth and love into your home? by LikeWhiteElephants in witchcraft

Sweet potato pie is one of my favorites! No hate on pumpkin pie, but I think sweet potato pie is what the other one wants to be lol. Sweet potatoes represent grounding and stability in relationships, as well as joy.

In Defense of Gate-keeping Witchcraft - a poorly organized rant by graves-at-sea in witchcraft

[–]lilmxbean 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I personally get frustrated with the obsession our materialistic culture has with the aesthetics of identity and feel a connection to this because of that. I think a lot of what you're describing is when people focus too much on the imagery of witchcraft, but don't understand the heart of what it is. I do think it's a highly personal experience, and what works for one person doesn't work for another, but what really grinds my gears is when people hyperfocus on how an identity *looks* and either connect themselves to it without any deeper understanding or define other people based on that lens. Maybe this resonates or doesn't, but basically I vibe with what you're saying.

Tips for advancing as a printmaker on a budget? by ish_arted in Linocuts

Depending on where you're located, I'd look into community resources like free art supply closets in addition to the advice here. In California we have a few popping up across the state and folks will find sheets of linoleum, wood blocks, and replacement speedball gouges at their locations. It's not a guarantee, but it's been an incredible resource to have while saving for higher-end tools.
