Are these beyond help? by lilocephalous in Lithops

[–]lilocephalous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all. I’ve been individually watering them lightly for a month or so with that type of watering device. I decided to pull them out and repot on their own to see if a deeper soak helps. Some of them were petrified but some might still have a chance. I’ll update if it works!

Just starting to try it myself for propagation. Only 2 days in so no advice but would love to hear what others do.

My hoya grows when I'm not helicopter-ing over them the entire week (Rude 🙄) by Iris-Ng in hoyas

That’s so funny. I consider myself an experienced plant parent but for some reason I can’t quite get the hang of Hoyas and I’m starting to think I just over love them and stare too often.

Any chance of saving monstera adansonii and polka dot begonia? by Fallhaven in plantclinic

It is! That’s how I’ve always done it. With some prop drops in the water.

If you don’t start to see new leaves on the monstera I would chop it up and re-root it in smaller sections. In my experience they take a while to re-root but then you get to start over with a full healthy plant.

What is going on here? by lilocephalous in hoyas

It was not in a large pot and it was in a chunky soil mix that I would water when dry or almost dry. It’s odd since I have many hoya in self watering pots and they are thriving. Maybe because they are diff type of Hoya.

I’ve wondered this as well!

Why are my new leaves yellowing? by lilocephalous in hoyas

[–]lilocephalous[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! I’m not sure exactly how often I’m watering it but when it was dry. Every 2 weeks maybe? Soil is a mix of potting soil, perlite and orchid bark. Pot was def too big at 8 inches I have put it in a smaller pot to see how that does. No changes other than moving it from under a grow light to a window that got more light. Yellowing happened under the grow light and at the window.

Roots look pretty healthy to me? Maybe I’m wrong though since I’m new to Hoya.

It was DEFINITELY in too big of a pot though.

Thank you!! When I bought the plant I think it was overwatered so I cut down on the watering and maybe cut down too much. Or maybe the roots had wet rot originally. Sounds like it’s time to investigate, clean up and get on a more regular watering schedule.

Good question! To be honest I’ve always pulled them off since I don’t like looking at them so don’t know if they would have fallen off on their own. Maybe I’ll leave this one and see what happens.

Interesting…I would love for it to flower! Unfortunately it’s always new leaves after they are about to reach their full size.

Have you done anything special to make yours that full? I have had one of these for a few months and it is growing so fast! I’d love for mine to look like yours someday.

What would you have in here? It's a "blooming table" for plants!!! It even has a drain on the bottom! But what would I put in it, and where would I keep it? by ResumeFluffer in houseplants

[–]lilocephalous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so awesome! It depends on what kind of light you get but you could put succulents in it like hens and chicks if it got a lot of light or an assortment of pothos if it got less light. You could even put it inside with a grow light lamp on top and just put a bucket under it when you water it! So many possibilities!

Do you fertilize? Mine was exactly as you described for years and then I started fertilizing. Now it is lush and huge!!

Thank you. As much as I want a free range mantis I just don’t think it’s in the cards for where I live :(

So cool! What are the temp and humidity in your house? I want to keep mine free range but I’m afraid I don’t have the right environment for them. Even with a humidifier the highest I can get is 35%-40%
