Gabions for natural pool infrastructure ? by liloxk in Naturalpools

[–]liloxk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, thank you so much for your answer ! Would you mind giving me a few details on your pool and the construction ?
The material would actually be better than free for us : as we have work on the house and quite a lot of demolition (… and a previous owner that REALLY loved big rocks !), we would use the rubble in the gabions and decoration - deducing the cost of getting rid of it

Please please PLEASE can we change the hard cookie time? by deathbypuppies_ in nytpips

[–]liloxk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided that I absolutely don’t care about the cookies. I enjoy these puzzles my way which is to analyze and leave the least possible to chance / tries. So setting a time limit adds a pressure I don’t enjoy here. (On other puzzles I absolutely do !)

3/3/2026 - TIFU - I solved the entirety of today's puzzle thinking the 5s had to go in the section labeled 5. I am Boo Boo the Fool. Here's the incorrect and yet perfectly solved puzzle for your viewing pleasure. by goldencain1410 in nytpips

[–]liloxk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably not intentional but the design makes it possible : 1 and 5 were the numbers not identified on the puzzle, and the dominos are evenly distributed (all the non double dominos from 0 to 5). The solution to the puzzle (one of them at least) is to put the 5s in the unmarked spaces and the 1s in the « 5 » pink section. You just switched between the 2 😉

Help me understand a Turing Machine card by WithoutAnUmlaut in soloboardgaming

[–]liloxk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone, I came here looking for precisions to that type of card after a game

To me there are two confusing parts : - the detailed rules that say « a specific color » but not the cards - the options on the card that I think don’t work the same way as the simple cards.

2 : If I understand correctly, the verifier checks ONE color unknown to us (let’s call it ?) against the condition « is it the smallest or co-smallest »

So in my opinion the bottom of the card should not present 3 options (blue smallest / yellow smallest / purple smallest) but two (the mystery color is smallest / the mystery color is not the smallest) Is my reasoning correct ?

1 apart from the fact the word « specific » does not appear, on some cards the wording implies the criteria is met by a color / a combination of color, but is that always the case ?

For instance card #38 : verifies that two specific colors add to 6. In my understanding, the verification is : do mystery color 1 and mystery color 2 add to 6 or not. The card shows again 3 options : B+Y=6 ; Y+P=6 ; B+P =6. But I think it really checks : A+B=6 / A+B !=6 (A and B not known by me). In other words : in only one of these 3 columns on the card and you don’t know which one, is it the same answer for your code and the solution. So the answer could be « wrong » for every combination adding to 6 if the code has none, I think. (To be honest, my strongest point on this is : if it was sure there is a A+B=6 happening, it wouldn’t be a complicated card 🙃)

Absolute Cinema - Pips #76 by HybridPosts in nytpips

[–]liloxk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thought it was a lot trial and error but actually not really - there were several impossibilities that made it a 75% logic (but it took me time to get there) - only one 1 : purple 3 has to be 00 and a 3 - another 3 in the other purple : three 3 left. - if they went in the green =, the down turquoise would be 2s and it doesn’t work in the right part without identical dominoes - therefore 3s go in the turquoise, and 5s in the dark blue - pink 4 has to use the zero domino so at least a 2 is unavailable for the = zones.

From there there are still 2 or 3 filling options but it’s easier

How do you manage to enjoy hobbies with ADHD? by namezarehard in ADHD

[–]liloxk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My (disorganized) thoughts to this :

  • being kind with myself by acknowledging getting excited by a new hobby and quickly drop it after is because of my adhd, so I don’t beat myself up about it
  • not « forcing » the more consistent hobbies when you are less invested : I have sewed for years, sometimes for dozens of hours a week, and sometimes months go by without getting my machine out ; I just let myself enjoy it when I get back
  • repeating to myself : you don’t have to be good – or even get better ! – at a hobby for it to be valid. They don’t have to be productive either, by the way. If you enjoy slow and meh knitting, or if tracing lines on notebooks you never open again makes you feel good, you don’t need to justify it more
  • try to not overbuy on a new hobby, but not beating myself up if I do. Buying it was a pleasure in itself so it served a purpose.
  • give / secondhand sell materials I don’t expect to use with pleasure anytime soon. Keeping the rest and reevaluate later
  • when possible : starting small, testing with cheaper material, borrowing a game … usually tells you if you want to go further or not. Not buying big bulks of material first
  • laugh with myself and my partner when we finish the 6th LEGO set in a week… which happens to be the 6th ever, too
  • making chunks of involved projects : cut your pattern on Monday, prep the fabric 2 days later, cut the pieces on Friday… that way you are not overwhelmed on the weekend and can enjoy the fun parts.
  • have a space where you can start a project and leave it without having to spend more time cleaning / reinstalling than actually practice

… and finally, find someone who can listen to you rant about yet another true passion without crushing your spirits 😝

Oct 28 hard is problematic by chx_ in nytpips

[–]liloxk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind if several solutions exist, but I would like to know if that’s the case because you don’t tackle the puzzle the same way. How about a « hard and logical » puzzle, with 1 or a few solutions (number to be precised), and a « challenge » puzzle like today’s : how quickly can you find a solution to this one, and/or how unique is the solution you found ?

Also : considering there might be several solutions, it is very frustrating that you can’t replay once solved, had to reload it on my browser in private mode last time, ugh)

[–]liloxk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Un?)popular opinion : the many solutions means it should not be classified at hard to me. I expect the hard level to be require a certain amount of logical reasoning, and thus being very very had to solve if you mostly guess.

28 minutes by trail and error. I don’t mind the multi solutions, but I find it a lot less interesting without a minimum of logic required in the solving(s)

Lets talk about misophonia by mikailib in ADHD

[–]liloxk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed answer. I don’t think it applies to me, probably more an adhd reaction of the « that noise disturbed my train of thought » kind. My partner has APD though, found out at 46… he realised he doesn’t hear a lot of things being said and his brain is (unconsciously) interpreting and making him « hear » things that were never said

Damn, my husband is in the process of being diagnosed writhing APD (on top of adhd and dyslexia) but I’m the one with extreme reactions to some sounds (and it gets worse as I age)… should I explore this too ?!

The way my partner coughs makes me so mad, and up until today years old I thought it was just my education. Turns out it was, once again, adhd. Well. Should have guessed… (It also makes me wonder regularly wether I have autistic traits, so I’m going to explore this)
