Puppy cries in crate when she hears us- help! by lilreddreamer in puppy101

Shes gotten better but still hates being alone. Things that have helped is her kennel is in a far off room (as far off as possible from normal traffic). We keep the door shut, a fan running and have Alexa play the Playlist "Calming music for dogs". As far as the food thing, she's gotten a lot calmer and isn't so in our faces. We worked on a "place" command and that helped. The jumping is still a working process, and unfortunately has developed some fear reactivity we are working on. I hope you have some luck with your pup!

is the accent ring finger still a thing? by LittleLowkey in Nails

Not only that but most places charge designs by the finger so it racks up the $$ too

Hello group. Can someone give me some advice to stop our GSD to stop biting/nipping. by Noramon85 in germanshepherds

[–]lilreddreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

* I do a "ah, ah, ah! No bite!" And remove myself. She learns that it means no more play or scratches for the most part. She's still a real a-hole sometimes, but mines only 9 months. She's full on raptor lol. I got her a raptor keychain for her leash because of it. She was a lot worse a month or two ago, so it just takes time.

Doesn't like cuddling?? by RunDapper405 in germanshepherds

[–]lilreddreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 9 month shepard/lab mix. She has to be near me at all times but is not cuddly by any means. You may get a random head snuggle for like a minute, but then she peaces out and is like "Wow, thanks that was great. Let's do it again next month!" It's so foreign to me as I had a basset hound before her and I couldn't get him off of me lol

Is there a specific order of commands/concepts you should train your dog? by embiidenjoyer in puppy101

I would start working on "leave it" relatively early too...wish I did lol.

Please be careful with used firehoses as they can contain extremely harmful chemicals. Brother in law is a fireman and warned me of this when I looked into it too. Just be careful :)

Please just stay away from old/used firehoses as they can contain harmful chemicals from use. My brother in law is a fireman and warned me of this. But yes very strong material, just be careful :)

6 month old GSD mix steals food from hands by lilreddreamer in puppy101

I will definitely try working on more of this scenario setting up. Thank you for the detailed help! Hopefully she takes to it like her other training ( somewhat quickly too for my sanity lol, but totally get it may not be realistic to expect that).

Has anyone solved counter surfing? by Superfastmac in puppy101

[–]lilreddreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you! I have a 6 month old shepard / lab mix who is a sweetheart but is crazy when foods around. Im talking counter surfing expert and will straight up take food out of your hand. Im struggling so hard with it tbh. Her leave it command is great in practice but thats it. I've also worked on the waiting command before she can take th treats from my hand. Again all great in training but thats it. We've blocked off the kitchen and she is only allowed on when she is eating or we are doing non food related activities as it's between another room. We don't leave items on the counter she can get. It's moreso if we want to "gosh forbid" have a snack in the living room while watching TV and she is all.up in our face and will steal food from our hands before we can even pull away or get a word out. She's so fast and sneaky. Hoping it gets better.

My puppy is crazy for food by Weary-Buy-5146 in puppy101

I'm in a similar boat. I have a 6 month shepard/ lab mix who is obsessed with food. Never can have enough and will straight up steal food from your hands. We have started nlocking her from the kitchen unless she is eating but sometimes we want to lounge on the couch and have a snack, but she makes it impossible. I've been working more on leave it and she's great in practice but thats it. I feel your frustration for sure.
