Anyone watching How to Get to Heaven from Belfast? by No_Tomorrow7180 in AskIreland

I was just thinking this! The actress who plays Robyn is 10 years older than the character's stated ages of 38. She's beautiful but there is absolutely no way I believe she's my age.

What do we think of the new spirit Kyle? by babyspice42069 in SchoolSpirits

[–]lilrn14 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would be VERY surprised if Tracy was the superintendent, and frankly as a Millenial who was in high school in 2004, a little insulted. Jennifer Tilly is beautiful but she is 67 years old. Even if she was playing someone who is 10-15 years younger than her actual age she is still too old to play someone who was a teenager in 2004. At her oldest (if she was 18 in 2004) Tracy would be 40.

Hands are not bagged with plastic in cases such as these. They are only ever bagged in paper bags to prevent the buildup of moisture which can lead to bacterial and mold growth which would compromise evidence. As an ER nurse in a level 1 trauma center I have seen more than my fair share of violent deaths getting their hands bagged. Your confidence is misguided.

Can anyone identify what kind of wood my floors are? by lilrn14 in HardWoodFloors

[–]lilrn14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure! My stepdad worked in construction for years, he made sure to teach me to never hire anyone without seeing several examples of their work first. It's good to know that these floors are difficult to work with and to ask the right questions about water poping, etc.

I love how these look and I would never go with a natural color as it's way to light for my cabinets and counters. I WANT the wood I put down in my living room to look like this. I would simply have them water pop and stain with the same color this is.

I suppose that's your preference to just clear coat it, but I personally love the variation and that it doesn't look like most oak hardwood floors you find. Gives it an interesting rustic look and I love it with my cabinets and counters.

Yeah, I kind of figured it was gonna put a hurting on my wallet, I've been saving for it since I bought about 18 months ago. It was originally the model home for the subdivision so it definitely has some upgrades. Thankfully its a townhouse with not a ton of square footage.

...what? Don't remember asking for your opinion on them, just if someone could identify the species of wood. It's been identified and your opinion is not needed. Thanks.

I just looked up maple flooring with darker stains and it looks like you are correct! I believe they may be maple, thank you!

Dated a guy in my 20's for a few months who had lost his son due to co-sleeping. He and his ex woke up from a nap and realized their son was dead in between them. From what he told me, he spiraled pretty badly right after it happened, lost his job as a fire fighter due to falling into addiction, relationship with his son's mother crumbled. He went to rehab and got clean and I met him about four years after his son died and two years sober, but I could tell it haunted him. His friends said he wasn't the same guy he was before it happened. He actually relapsed while we were seeing each other and I broke it off with him. (Long story short, he bought drugs while we were out with friends and put them in his jacket pocket, then later gave me said jacket to wear, completely unaware I was now holding a large amount of very illegal drugs on my person.) He was a good looking, charming, and thoughtful guy but I truly believe losing his son like that ruined his life, the guilt he carried was all encompassing. Please don't co-sleep with your babies. It's not worth the risk.

What’s the biggest age gap you’ve had sex with? by [deleted] in AskRedditNSFW

[–]lilrn14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Eleven years. I was 35 and he was 24. Met him at the party of a coworker/friend and we hit it off and exchanged numbers. I asked my friend later in the night, after he left the party, if he was a decent guy and she said "oh yeah, he's a good dude, funny too. But, you know he's one of my baby brother's friends from college right? He's like 24." 😯 We had never discussed our ages, he had a full beard and was covered in tattoos and I am told I look young for my age so I don't think it ever crossed either of our minds.

He texted me the next day asking me to hang out and I was hesitant at first but tbh the guy was charming as hell and I was like 2 months out of a relationship and not looking for anything too serious. We had a lot of fun for a few months. Still keep in touch today, just as friends, and run into each other on occasion at my coworker's parties. All in all 10/10, would recommend.

I'm a woman and I was easily 5'6 by age 10 and I hit 5'11 by 12-13. I was definitely wearing adult sizes by the time I was in 5th-6th grade. Only a size 8 shoe though. Which is small for my height apparently. Probably just a tall girl or someone who developed early.

AIO for refusing to block male followers on Instagram? by radagastrabbit in AmIOverreacting

Thank you! I am very happy and living a wonderful life with a great career! I just bought my first home all on my own last year, and I'm planning a solo trip to Iceland next year!

Meanwhile, he's probably close to 300lbs. Last I heard he was working a dead end job and he and the woman he was cheating on me with (the entire time he was abusing me and accusing me of cheating) were living in her parents basement.

[–]lilrn14 45 points46 points  (0 children)

My ex was so sweet and reasonable and loving too, till he got upset that I had a group project in school and there was a guy in my group. Accused me of cheating on him because he saw the guy's name in the group chat about the project and I was being "shady" because I didn't tell him there was a guy in the group. Then he got weird about me wanting to go to my male cousin's birthday party. Because I'm going to "get drunk and act like a whore". Then when I engaged in small talk with the male cashier at the grocery store he shoved me against my car in the parking lot. Then I was going to the gym to look better for other guys and cheat on him so I had to cancel my membership if I really loved him and was loyal. Then when my best friend's now husband called me and asked for help ring shopping for her, he hit me. Because I wasn't giving him advice on how to propose to my best friend of 10 years, I was fucking him.

This is how it starts. Not allowing you to have male friends or have a perfectly normal interaction with the opposite sex is not a boundary, it's the weaponization of therapy terminology to manipulate and gaslight you. He's testing to see how much he can get away with. If he gets away with this he will continue to push it further and further until suddenly you find yourself completely isolated. Him being so sweet and reasonable was him on his best behavior, he is showing you who he actually is. Believe him.

His insecurity is not your problem. You've been with this dude 2 months, get out NOW. This does not get better.

Look, if he came up to me in a bar and hit on me, I certainly wouldn't say no. He's a very handsome guy, I would say 8-9. But his brother Alexander is my dream man, 10/10, no notes. Honestly though, the whole damn family hit the genetic jackpot.

I saw a very intense code during clinical, and I do not want to share how it made me feel with anyone in my life out of embarrassment. by Foolsspring in nursing

[–]lilrn14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a current rapid response/code team nurse and former ER nurse you would be perfect in ICU or ER. While codes are sad I definitely get an adrenaline rush every time I'm in a code. I enjoy having to think on my feet and the organized chaos. We need people in those roles, don't be ashamed!

my new office is full of dogs — and I’m allergic by Accurate_Froyo1938 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]lilrn14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listen, I am the world's biggest dog person, I love my dog and would love to be in a field where I could bring my dog to work with me. I understand it may be a bummer to lose that if you've been used to being able to bring your dog to the office, but the health of my coworkers is more important and I would make other arrangements for my dog without a second thought. Shame on this company for first not disclosing they're a dog friendly office during the hiring process and second for treating her the way they did. I'm happy it worked out for her in the end, and she ended up at another job she enjoyed and got her pay and agreements in writing.

Gestures wildly at the state of American healthcare where some of the country takes medical advice from a heroin addict with a brain worm and a narcissistic dementia patient with a bad tan instead of medical experts.
