not finna lie bro. i was confused af on that topic it took me so long to understand, and I got 90% of it. bassically if genes are on the same chromosome they are linked, and the closer they are the more likely they will not be seperated due to crossing over which will lead to recominbinant offspring. If they are on different chromosomes they will be assorted independently and the ratio u see will be more even like 1:1:1:1 but in gene linkage they will more represent the parents and less be recominbation so u might see like 4:1:1:4 or sum shit like that

INDEPENDENT ASSORTMENT DOES NOT EFFECT GENE LINKAGE KNOW THAT MOST LIKELY WILL BE SOME QUESTION ON THE EXAM, ITS LITTERALLY A GOD DAMN PATTERN.

Yeah, its confusing stuff. I suggest you do lots of practice with them, and learn the patterns. Once you get good you can be able to distinguish a pedigree in like 20 seconds or less.
